Only two I know of now are a '58 Vette and a '62 Vette. Both rough and missing the original engines. Different owners, one's a nut case and won't sell, it's just rotting away in a damp cement block garage with a leaking roof. The other is at least in dry storage and the guy would LOVE to sell it to somebody that would fix it up but his wife won't let him because they took their honeymoon in it. Won't let him spend the money to fix it though. Crazy.

Five doors down from me was a 59 Silver Hawk, rust free with an older checked repaint, 6 cyl 3speed. Never knew it was there. The guy that bought the house from the widow, [now a friend of mine], asked what she was going to do with the car, she said as long as he was buying the house he could have the car. I met him when he stopped to look at an 86 Dodge van style ambulance I was selling and I ended up trading the ambulance, some old fixer up furniture and a couple old bikes for it. It's hidden in my garage now until I get some time to do the brakes. Put a battery in it and some gas, fired right up.

Across the street and about 4 houses down, guy has an early T? touring, discovered last year after living here 6 years. About 4 blocks in either direction there is a 64 Chevy pick-up and a 49 or 50 Merc 4 door, both cars have been sitting outside since I moved in 7 years ago. Know of a couple garages within a few miles with cars buried under years of junk, one is a early 60's Cad, the other is a 35 Olds 4 door. There's another early 60's Cad that sits outside under a cover in N. Minneapolis and a Charger buried under junk in Maple Grove. Most people are content to just let things sit it seems, too much work to sell or fix seems to be a common excuse. Also the eternal optimist who's gonna fix it up someday. Or the guy who wants a mint for it. The only car of all of these that I know is for sale is the Olds.

I forgot couple. I also know of a '57 Chevy in a big ditch, looks like all the trim/chrome is there. I haven't walked down to take a close look, but it looks like a complete car. Also, my dad and I stumbled across a guy that has an old grain storage bin with a very nice, very complete running Harley '49 Panhead w/sidecar and saddle bags. All original, mint. He was going to sell it to us, but wanted to tell us the history on the bike first. He is the original owner. Took us in his house, pulled out the photo albums, and by the time we had gone through the history of the bike it wasn't for sale anymore.....

    Within a mile of me,
427 cobra roadster, 19k original miles. sits inside a climate controled ba*****t garage on carpet. Also a 289 roadster and a 68 shelby in the same basememt. All original and near perfect... Dont ask, the owner knows damn well what he's got!

58 Chrysler 300D with electronic fuel injection, restored and with the FI unit!

'38 Buick coupe with the ultra rare semi-automatic ******. Supposedly the only one still in existance

'70 Nova SS-350 4 speed with [get this] 14 original miles on it! Yes, there's a story about it being a graduation present for a daughter, and her running off and getting married against "daddy's" better judgement before the car came in to the dealer. Garaged since day 1, but has some surface rust on the underside. Otherwise perfect.

'74 Mustang II [yea, the pinto clone] Cobra-2. Purchased used by a vieatnam POW the day he came home. He died a few months later, and his parents have kept it [garaged] since... Why is it special you ask? 8k original miles and still looks like a brand new car. Once a year his Dad fires it up and drives it about 30 miles and then parks it untill next year.

55 chevy 4 door 6 cyl 3 on the tree. Little old lady special,,, and 1 owner. She still drives it to "market and church". Still a solid car, but it's collected a lot of "little old lady" parking lot damage over the past few years :(

62[ish] Plymouth Phoenix 4 door rotting into the ground in a backyard. Owner is "gonna fix it up"

We've only been in town for 9 months, but I've already spotted a couple of interesting things. There's a '48 Dodge 5-door sedan sitting in a vacant industrial yard that can be bought for $1200 or so. It's pretty much complete, but it's got alot of rust on the bottom of the car. Down the street from me there's a '60 or 61 Desoto 4-door. Don't know anything about that one, but it was last registered in 2004.

For the "motherload", though, I only live a mile from Geordie Vincent's hoard. If he ever lets me in with a camera I'll post some shots of his yard. It will make you go weak in the knees! Some say he's not the most honest person to deal with, but he has a ****load of old cars.

Around the corner from me,lives a guy who went to my High School. He bought the 59 El Camino that belonged to this Japanese gardener,Sam,who mowed all the lawns in my neighborhood when I was a kid. I used to ride on the tailgate while he did the yards. The guy had it completely restored and it looks BRAND NEW! I would have left alone, cause it was in perfect condition and all original. I've tried to buy it more than once, but he won't sell it!. It just sits in his garage. It wouldn't be so bad if he at least drove it. But, in the 11 yrs i've lived here, he's NEVER drivin it!

old guy locally has a real nice 39 cabriolet,37 fordor and had a 36 cabriolet.I tried for years to but one of the ragtops, but he would never sell. The last time I went around to his place was to show him my 36 3 window I had had the time.As we were out driving he casually asks do I want the 36 Cabrio????WTF..I didn`t have the money to buy it, but I put a friend onto it and he bought it.
I know of several old cars locally, but nothing that falls into my window of interest ie, early Ford...one guy has a few American motors..56 F100,56 Buick 2 door, neither for sale, just sat for years going bad....a friend managed to prise a 57 Olds Super 88, out of his grasp and it took a lot of lovin` to get it back on the road...the Olds motor was knackered, so he put a 440 out of a Jensen Interceptor in it....the old sayin` "Sups gas, kicks ***" fits that car perfectly.

I`m always hunting for old cars, one that I found and bought to save it from the s**** man a few years ago was a Thames van..this ended up going to the U.S...Alan Thornton who owns Flatlanders Rod Shop in Virginia, turned up on my doorstep one rainy night with a couple of guys I knew(one a relation of Alans) he bought it to ship home....was a real project vehicle..but it`s nice to send one the other way for once lol.

There is a older gentlemen who has a Deuce 3W ...inside a shed. He is 80 plus but will not sell it to me. He bought it out in Arizona or New Mexico when he got out of the service after WWII ... and drove it back here. It has hydraulic brakes and 16 inch 40 Ford rims and tires. Has a 40 V8 also. It is missing the rear window garnish molding. Even in the 40's ... the garnishes were difficult to find. I have bought a spare rear window garnish molding for it ... it case I get the coupe. His wife has told him lots of times to sell me the coupe. He knows he will never fix it or drive it again but he keeps it.

His wife has told me she will call me on the way home from his funeral ... and I can get the coupe ...

If you're going there better wear a hubcap in the back of your underwear and be wary of the smell of petroleum jelly and the faint twangings of banjo music:)

But he has some nice Packards and other stuff. IF you get in there look for a driver's side 51 Monarch taillight housing!! :):)

I got to wander through the yard in July, lots of interesting things to be found there. I just wish I'd had my camera with me at the time. He IS a bit of an odd fellow, isn't he? :p
