Today i finally finished the front seat Ive been working on during the days off. Its for my youngest son's 32 3W Coupe. Day before Yesterday Yesterday Today ;D Tomorrow i will start with the sidewindowframes. I still have some days off........
Awesome! I just bought a CONSEW machine and I wanted to learn a trade. Your giving me a great deal of inspiration. Thanks!
Looks great...a buddy and I went partners on a sewing machine a few years back and it's been sitting in his barn ever since...I think I'll drag it over here and try to do the seat in my 37 binder...thanks for the inspiration!
I like the upholstery and the color but I'm curious as to what is under it. Is this a total scratch build? Tell me more, please.
Yes its scratch built. The frame is out of plywood, and copied by my son, from a gennie seat i have and there is a mesch made of tie downs, to make it a bit softer to sit on. Made a frame for the bottom partm of plywood, with a hole so the tie down mesch would work. Then its foam from an old bed mattress, that i covered with synthetic fiiberfill To get a nice round shape This is the plywood for the backrest Then i made a Tuck and roll, by using fiberfill and Vinyl sewn on a backpart of cotton (bed sheet). Im using my wifes normal household sewingmaching, with a Leather type needle (thicker) and thicker than normal thread, this is important since normal thread will cut the vinyl, and not make a good job. I posted a Tech thread on how to do this some years ago, but it seams to be gone. Anyway here is a link describing the principle, http://www.brandow.eu/42Coupe/Upd10/42fordpart10.htm
