I really didn't work on the Lunar Lander much over the weekend. I have been super busy at work. I did see something last week I thought was interesting. One of the super truckers was in to get a load of fertilizer from our warehouse and it seems that they like the Bling Bling too. Check out these spinner wheels on the Big Rig. Damn Playa!
It gets even better! Apparently this guy is my alter ego on the CB radio and probably over on the super trucking 18 wheeler message board.
Anyway, back to the point. I was feeling motivated to do something Friday night, so I went out to the garage and cranked up a Tora Tora album on the stereo and began to figure out what to do that night. I was kind of at a loss at what to do, because I have a 54 Olds up in Sycamore that I need to get back down here for some parts I planned on using. Mainly making the rear roll pan out of the front bumper like on the space truck. I had a few cocktails (Busch lights) and thought about what I had laying around that I could use instead. I drug in the hood off of the 59 Olds, the front fenders, some 60 buick junk left over from the spacetruck. Nothing seemed to work for me. I went out into my dark junk shed and spotted this old dodge truck hood I had laying out there and thought maybe I could do something with it.
Well, I got this ugly duckling out of a place that was smashing a bunch of shit for free. I got it just because of the nifty louvered pieces on it. Since it was hit on one side, I cut off everything that was beat up on it, and did the same on the opposite side, since I need everthing to be symmetrical. I stuffed it under the ass end of the lander body and clamped it in there. I think it may be a winner! The outside corner area is going to be a little tough to round off, and I will need to trim it down a bit on the outside edges, but it may work.
I had to work Saturday morning and saturday afternoon I tore out a wall in my house did some wiring and Insulated it, then went to the Ivesdale Inn that night and got drunk. Sunday I brought home this little gem. I found it a couple of years ago in a junkyard but they guy wanted way too much for it. I ended up getting it from another buddy who traded into it somehow. I believe it is a 33 or 34 Ford chassis. It has a chevy steering box welded to the frame and It has lost one of the cycle fenders since the last time I saw it in the junkyard. It has struts welded to the backing plates for the fenders. I don't know what I am going to do with it. I'll trade out of it if someone just has to have it.
sweet. custom egdod rollpan. I have a 63 dodge truck, i love it because it's soooo ugly, but it's got some nifty details on it too. You've got some vision.
Was it the Tora Tora album with the hot chick nose art on the cover? I have that in vinyl. Oh yeah, the hood looks good flipped.
No Chad, it was not the "Suprise Attack" album with the cool bomber art cover. It was the "red" album, Wild America with the eagle on it. I have the other one too, go figure. I can not get a picture of it from the back as of yet. I have a stand there holding up the rest of this hulk. This is the best I can do right now.
[ QUOTE ] Oh yeah, the hood looks good flipped. [/ QUOTE ] And I'd leave the "Dodge" emblem on it...! So your ideas are "Hydraulicley" inspired...???? Great work man...! Mark
Man, that is some creative thinking! I can't believe you guys even still own Tora! Tora! albums/cassettes/whatever, though. Oh well...if it's helping you think up stuff like this...more power to ya!
That guy must be from Houston, Tx. Are you sure he was hauling fertilizer? That is some serious Bling Blinging. We know how to do down here in the Dirty South.
Got stuck in a trance. I did go to a car show saturday over in Farmers Branch held by the guys that build the "Eleanor" Mustang from the movie Gone in Sixty Minutes. I don`t want to see another Mustang again!
