A coleman canoe instead of a belly tank. Now that's thinking outside the box! [IMG]

Just kidding, looks like fun. [IMG]

Enjoyed looking at the build up photos of both rod and special. Any chance I might see the Austin at the VSCC test day on 16th Jan ?

UK, you should post a picture that shows what size that Austin is--I bet 90% of the people reading this post have no idea!
I have a '31 American Austin, a clone of the Austin & cgassis but with mirror image engine.

When I first saw my Austin, it was parked next to a Crosley hotshot. It made the Crosley look HUGE.

  13. Great Work!! Especially love the "Special".
Tell us more about your rear mounted shift linkage in the Rod. Is it mounted to a cut down "stub" of the original shifter handle further forward? -Keith

Ade, Though not a member of the VSCC, my Dan Dare A Coupe should be lurking in the shadows at test day. A couple of others of the ACME Hot Rod Club should also be going (one of them is a member of the VSCC - he has a glass 'boat tailed' Ulster replica(?) aswell as a 327 powered 32 Coupe and bunch of other stuff - none of which is on the road at present).
    Anyway, see you there!

the gearlever is as you say,
i cut and threaded the old lever screwed a clevis to it , to which a push rod is attached

the new gearlever is made from a piece of teardrop(aero) section tube a v was cut out lengthways

this was then closed and welded to give a long taper

it was then drilled full of holes nothing is lighter than a hole

There was a young fella from Boston
Who purchased a shiny green Austin
There was room for his ass, and a gallon of gas,
But his balls hung out and he lost em !

    Nice car!! nice work !!
