Not under load, but here is a start up and idle vid of an 880 King Kat. I do agree though, there is something awesome about grabbing a handful of big 2-stroke power and trying to hang on.

A buddy was wrenching for the local Ski-Doo dealership when I was a kid in southern NY, and raced a '72 797 Blizzard like this one. I'd help him cold start it, as it had no chokes, I'd hold a hand over two of the carbs while he cranked it, it would light on two, then just stick yer paw over the third for a second and it would light. Got some pictures somewhere of it running at Watkins Glen, and a "Press Kit" from the race- "1972 Watkins Glen Snowmobile Grand Prix". They ran a "backwards" short course, started in front of the pits to take advantage of the seating on top of the pits, then cut across the infield past the exclusive Onyx Club, left down around Turn one, back up around to the pit straight again. My uncle was head of PR for the Pleasant Valley Wine Co. that supplied the Great Western Champagne for the Glen Winner's Circle, so I always volunteered to help as they always took a bunch of VIPS to the races and likkered 'em up  Passed out Champagne and finger sandwiches until they were all properly medicated, then got turned loose. Payment was pit passes, Onyx Club entrance etc. When I went to the USGP in '70, at 14 I had a string of "VIP" pit, paddock and Club passes that hung down to my knee- only place I couldn't go was in the tower. Drinking age in NY was 18 back then, and I was already 6'1" at 14 and had a few chin whiskers, so no problem ;)

  5. Wow did this thread ever get way O/T!

But then, the O.P. never did specify that it had to be "traditional" or even a car.

    Carry on boys!

By the way, I use to have an old '75 Ski-Doo TNT Air Cooled. Big piece of shit but when it did run without overheating it was one fast some-bitch.

hard to say. Theres loads of great soundng engines, from 4 to 8 cilinders. Its all on the set up.

I had a pinto with a mellow silencer (very mellow lol) dual exhaust with cocktail shackers as tips, and believe it or not it sounded pretty much like a boat and was one of the meanest sounds i ever heard. It was loud as fuck!
Had to kill it to avoid inpoud unfortunatley :(

You didn't indicate what vehicle, so, here goes. Picture a lone XR750 Harley flattracker on a mile track during time trials. Booking down the straights at speeds over 120 mph then letting off of the throttle just a tad while diving into a corner. A dab of the steel shoe strapped to your left boot on the dirt then guickly put it back on the peg at the same time you're trying to twist the throttle off. Hang on thru the next turn and get ready to do it again. Man what a sound!!!

The only other bike that could top that
would be Kenny Robert's TZ750 at the Indy Mile. But, we only heard it during one race. Two other Yamacoolies were there that night but everybody only remembers Kenny's ride.
