many scans of cars i see as "60's style" to follow... i hope i don't get in trouble for eating server space (delete them if i have used too much, Ryan) Most of these are from Southard's book some from Barris Kustoms of the 50's
I have more, from other early 60's issues of car craft. My dad found them in a thrift store for 50 cents each and bought me the whole stack.
far out man. ya dig? this post is way gone, like the most. i had to add this pic... it is too cool not to
That 40 Ford in that last pic is fuckin awsomwe! I like the early to mid sixties style way more than most of the fifties stuff, lot of better paint jobs, better stances, and my favorite skinny whites on 5 spokes. -Jesse
Well I see alot on the outside of a 60's style car, but the engine MUST be a big block with a 4 deuce man-a-fre. I think Paul would agree with me on this, LOL Satin
LOL, yea we know what a 58 looks like. Even if I didnt own one I would know the difference. I have been into cars before I could walk. The first game my dad and I played was name that car....... Those were the days
can we photoshop some astros with thin whites on this heap? Thanks [image]http://photo.starblvd.net/burndupcrx/1-4-1-1061723460?m=1&pg=0&ro=3&co=0[/image]
I thought sure the first picture posted would be the Lil Deuce Coupe or the Outlaw. My favorite was the Invader.
[ QUOTE ] Warpigg...that blue '58 RULES!!! Any more pics of it???? [/ QUOTE ] no more pic's: but here's the caption: The National Hot Rod Association's (NHRA) Winternationals Car Show was held in Los Angeles in February 1963, and there I took this picture of Mox Miller's '58 Chevy Impala, which won first place in the Conservative Custom Coupe/Sedan class. The Chevy was bought new, it was stock-bodied and had a fabulous interior, with lots of chrome and a Dick Jackson paint job with Dennis Rickleffs pinsfriping that was done in 1962. The engine has a Crogar blower with dual carbs, and the wheels are polished Halibrand Indy Mags.

[ QUOTE ] Where can you buy Astro's now? Who carries them or makes them.......? [/ QUOTE ] this question comes up a lot search the archives and something should turn up.
The '59 Impala with the Dick Jackson paint reminds me that Dick has continued to build and paint some super-cool rides over the years. Six, seven years ago he built a '58 T-Bird in the style of his original, and it absolutley kicks ass! It has all the excitement and creative energy of his first Bird, done when he was a young guy working for Barris. Best of all, the current iteration combines his energy and vision with the honing and refinement of his execution skills he's developed over several decades of work. I saw Dick's Bird in his garage in Jackson, California, several years ago, and it's a stunner! It's true to his original vision, subtley refined and showcasing his personal progression though life and his work. I think it's about time someone did a Dick Jackson story . . .
