has anybody mentioned a Fury Wagon? the sled i bombed around in in my high school years seated like 14, comfortably.

or a 60-66 panel truck or burb. I picked up our 62 panel for this same reason.

When I was pre-school age, Dad drove a '40 Pontiac 2 dr. sedan.
    Family of four.
I think he got the '48 Studebaker Starlight coupe around '53, when we were a family of five.
I know we had the '52 Mercury in '58 because that was the year I did my first brake job on that car,,, family of 6, and we all squeezed into it.
In '60 Dad bought a low mileage '53 Olds 98 town sedan. First four door car he ever owned. family of seven, but older brother (15) seldom went anywhere with us in that one so still mostly only 6 people riding in it, except for when we went camping in it then there was seven and all the camping equipment!

Ya don't really NEED an SUV size car just because you have a few kids!

That's all hype you've been brainwashed with by the auto industry for the last couple of decades

  6. hey fellow oregonian.. i hate to agree with an OT car but the guy before hit it on the head about newer rigs.. try buying a shit-box Taurus Wagon.. My folks had one and it seated 8 or 9 and it had modern amenities to deal with the screamin kids.. try dealing with a bunch of overheated kids in an old wagon with no AC for a while.. unfortunately this is one of the factors that got my dad out of the old car hobby but maybe you can keep them interested in old cars by other means.. we got over 200,00+ miles out of the Taurus wagon without any major problems.. but keep the Classic in the garage to teach them with.. it's like an existential dilema with younger rodders today.. don't feel alone..

I own a couple family friendly rides. The wifes 55 Wagon project(for sale by the way), a 37 Dodge D5, and my 51 Chevy "family kustom" project.

Two years ago I bought a 57 belair wagon, p 9 passenger. It did not have the rear seat though. I am not a 57 fan but am a huge wagon fan and that is why I bought it. It was an excellent driver and I sold it for $14500. It was super cool. We had two kids at the time and since selling have adopted two more. Don't think for one minute I don't regret selling it now. So the stock now is a 59 edsel ranger that we can all fit in but I primarily use it for winter daily driving. A 30 sedan tudor that she drives they can all fit in it as well for the time being, little scrawny fellers. A 33 fenderless ford pu and a 65 f100 pickup. Right now my goal is to sell the 33 and then trade the 65 for a 9 passenger wagon, preferebly a 58 but my wife wants a 56. Well see if anything comes up. Good luck and keep us posted
