I dont really know what to look for in a carberator, but I will describe my engine and see what you guys think. 302 ford, bored .30 over, pretty large cam, lots of work done the heads, roller rockers, and a couple of other little things done to it. Im not going to be drag racing or anything, just looking for a good responding carb. Thanks nate
Something in the 500-600 cfm range should do just fine if all around performance is your goal.. An Edelbrock or vacuum secondary Holley will do right out of the box. Frank
Ive always used Edelbrock 600 cfm electric chock and vacuum secondaries. Ive got a Carter on my 383. Its exactly the same as the edelbrock except manual chock. Carter makes Edelbrock. Ive heard that the new Holly street advendure carbs are great. What ever you go with stick with nothing bigger than a 600cfm unless its gonna be a 600 hp monster or something.
Actually Carter doesn't make the Edelbrocks. Weber USA does. But they are based on the Carter design Agree - you can't go wrong with this! WoW, don't know anyone who would agree with that. Great carbs, especialy for racing.
Had a 600cfm Edelbrock on the wifes camaro, ran great once i put a regulator set at 4psi. never any problems.
I ran one on my old SBC 283, and it was flawless. Looked nice, ran nice, and I never had to touch it- EVER.
Run an Edelbrock 600 on my 302 with mild cam and Edelbrock manifold, great carb right out of the box. Spike
