dont take these guy's razzin you to seriously man, some people like to get uppidy for the sake of getting uppidy.

just because it's patina, primer or has some rust doesnt make it a Rat Rod persay... it's the overall stance, the workmanship, the tools used to build it etc...

trust me, no one in the 50's would drive around a '29 roadster that was half rotted, with a spider-web grille and a 4.5' tall shifter

I'll add to FencePost's post... Read the entire page that is about RatRods on Wikipedia. It's a pretty good start.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ratrod

And, better yet... Hang around here long enough and you'll be able to see and figure out the difference.

But whatever you do, build what YOU like. You're not gonna please everyone.

You saying "I thought it was time to pick a fight" I thought was a pretty lame statement. I think for as long as you have been around here, you must not read many of the posts. I think Fencepost86's Wikipedia definition would have done it for you. Or are you only reading your own posts, standing back from the screen and saying to yourself "what a bad boy you are"?

Anyone who says that have or want a Rat Rod, is showing their experience, or lack there of. It has turned into a degrading term.

I was under the impression that back in the days these hotrodders were building cars to go fast look good and be different. Must of just been hollywood. I think alot of the cars out there have more personal expression and some have more fab talent than some of you yahoos who build the way it is supposed to be...If you want to build it the way it is supposed to be by a muscle car. Then you can make it an investment. Not everyone can afford the dueces and 34 or the 36's. I look at lil chopped trucks and coupes being driven and having loads of character I think its radical that something new and interesting has hit the scene. I will always look at the 32,34 and other early fords but stand in my face tough guys and tell me my rod is ****. Warning: Not if you enjoy standing...

For most on here, if you call our hot rod a rat rod, well get pissed and be very pleased to tell you WHY its not a ****ty ratrod. Heres why:

Follow these easy 5 steps to build your dream ratrod. Anyone can do it(that has no pride)!!

    1. Find worthless s**** tin, rotted beyond repair that still resembles a traditional shape with the worst split and cracked original tires you can find. Tip: Look along creek beds or any being used as an outhouse.

    2. Get it with a rolling ch***is with original EVERYTHING and dont bother upgrading ANY of it, especially the brakes, electrical and fuel system. Show obvious disregard for safety whenever possible throughout the 17 hour build.

    3. Use chicken-**** welds with zero penetration, poor design and lack of craftsmanship throughout.

    4. Leave EVERY part rusty as hell with no intent for future improvements or repair.

    5. Make it loud and powerless, let it run like **** and smell like piss.

*BONUS* If you have any cash left over after spending.....what..... $50 on the entire build up to this point, spend it on the following items:

mexican blankets, flame throwers, barbed wire grill and a really *****in shift knob.

Do your own thing man, what makes you happy, if you are looking to fit in here, with something that doesn't, you are certainly going about it the wrong way.

i am confused. your last post made no sense. so you think a hotrod can only be a 32, 34 or a 36? theres hotrods all over the place. this isnt a new trend. the new trend is to make your car look like it was built in a week with only a stickwelder and they wanted to put as many bolt on pieces of **** they can.

in my eyes, all OCC bikes are Ratbikes and any hotrod built the same way is a ratrod. a hotrod is stripped down, fast and safe. no extra bolt on ****. does that help?

now why do you consider yourself to be so tuff? i could threaten you too. your looking at a computer, not me. for all you know i could be a scrawny little kid or a big tough guy. dont try and be tough on here, you dont get anywhere.

Yo kid, chill out or get out. Listen a little, learn a little. There is a lot of talent and experience on here. You are doing one hell of a job alienating yourself. If you want some real answers show a little respect on this here board.

Attempting to get respect as a keyboard commando ain't gonna do it man. I don't own an old Ford, can't afford one and I would sell it and buy a Pontiac if I did have one.

I don't know **** about ****, but I shut up, make do, and learn all I can from dudes who do know their ****. They are, for the most part, willing to put up with my naivete, just not absolute dumber than a wet sack of hammers stupidity, which you seem to have an abundance of. By the way... we are the same age, so you can't play any age difference card on me.

Also, the "********" T-shirt you are wearing in your profile is pretty much like the little orange flag on a moped. It makes it obvious to all around that you are an amateur and we need to steer clear.

I'm not sayin, I'm just sayin.... that's all.

If thats you in your avatar with the "********" shirt.....? standing next to that motor on the stand... Your not big enough to be throwing around verbal threats to people you have no clue about. That might not be a good idea. Grow up. Didn't you Just post picks of your Dads pick-up? If so, that's a nice truck, with lots of cl***. You should try to follow suite.

  30. Your car is an extension of yourself..
Your abilities, your $$ situation, your tastes.
But make your car the best expression of the above. Theres no trophy for doing less.

Labels are just that. If you like your car, drive it.
Who gives a **** what people call it.
