In my days of the 60's if anyone had a nice low rider they had "a really fine chort mang"

 

I thought a short was a hot rod pick up truck with a short bed...i remember a friend of my dads calling his model a pickup a short.

 

Short is slang for for an Altered Wheelbase or "Short" Wheelbase
