It's worth $25 to me, but someone else would likely pay more than that.
That newfangled online auction site lets you search for completed listings; that is the single best price guide I have ever used, as it is real sales and contantly updating (and free.)

Anyone know where I can find a Shopsmith? Not that newfangled plastic crap either. Wish I still had mine. Nice grille.

Worth whatever the traffic will bear...both the shopsmith and the grille.

Looks to be a '50 Caddy grille...but then again, it could be a couple years later...

FWIW, a '48/'49 Caddy grille could fetch upwards of five bills in good shape like that one is...!!!

I don't think thats a Shopsmith. Wasn't ShopSmith the handle they hooked to that combination ,foldable, drill press, table saw, router, lathe combination tool? or was that the Shopemate?? I think that thing is a "Black and Decker Workmate" I bought one in 1971 and I'm still using it,,I had to replace the deck with one I ade but ,,it still works great and I wouldn't part with it.

And ,,a tip,,My son in law bought those cheap units from Canadian Tire. It didn't hold up very well at all. Although the better ones are pricey , you can get them at Home Depot .

That in the pic is a WorkMate. My brother has a Shop Smith he'd like to sell. It's the first version, I remember going with my Dad in the late 50's when he bought it, used.

I believe that's a workmate that the Cad grill is sitting on rather than a Shopsmith. A Shopsmith being a multifunction wood working machine http://www.shopsmith.com/

I'm thinking 50 Cad on the grill. http://www.car-nection.com/yann/dbas_txt/Phocad50.htm

  21. Yep. Jobmate isn't a brand, it's a warning label.

  22. my workbench like that, i found it in the trash. cleaned it up and put it to use. dont know what brand but its awesome.
p.s. whats the grill worth. ive heard everything from 25 bucks to 500.

B&D Workmates show up on C/L all the time...just shop till you find one in the condition you want for a price you like. I believe there are at least two sizes, so get the larger (original design) unit. It is height-adjustable (lower section legs fold up).

I wonder if the OP will just lean it against the garage next time or on top of a nondescript cardboard box to avoid all our bullshit.

  28. i like how this thread turned into a discussion about work benches. another example of HAMB ADHD. this is what makes this forum so entertaining, and keeps me from being productive at work. :)
