I have mentioned in other peoples posts about a trip to USA next year and hopefully bringing the Hudson. In a nutshell the car will be coming over in April, we arrive around 23rd April and get the car and head off at the end of April for a 3 day trip to the Stray Kat 500 in Dewey OK.
Then head north via St Louis to visit my son's in laws( he took a good looking Yank girl away to live over here) and then up to Michigan where I have quite a few things on the agenda. that includes:
Gilmore Museum, Hudson Museums in Shipshewana and Ypsilanti, the Ford museum and Greenfield Village.
Also on the list was Billetproof in Milan and I was wondering if that is just a one day event or over a few days? I know it is now a car show and drags but don't know if it just a one day or not. Maybe there is something else on in that area around the same time that involves hot rods and customs.
After we finish all the Michigan stuff then it is back to CA for Santa Maria. About 4 weeks on the road.

Set aside at least one very full day for the Henry Ford/Greenfield Village.
You are going to be absolutely blown away.Dont go there expecting to breeze through it in an hour, there is just so much to see its overwhelming!:)

The Hudson Museum in Ypsi is pretty cool, small, but neat. Theres a fire truck museum just up the same road, Im guessing less than 5 miles away. Im not into fire trucks but it was really interesting. If youre a gear head youll enjoy it. Then theres the Buick Research Center (I think that's what the call it) its right across from the GM museum. You park in one lot and you can walk across the street to the Buick place and then walk the other way through the parking lot and see the GM. You'll have to Google it for the location.
None of the other Museums can compare to the Ford. As powrshfter stated, plan on at LEAST one day plus to see the Ford museum and Greenfeild Village.
In Detroit theres also a guided tour that you can take of the Model T factory. It takes about a good hour. I thought it was good.
You have to drive through some rather questionable areas of Detroit to get there but that's an education in it self. You don't have to be too concerned about your safety, just be aware of your surroundings.
All of the above are within an easy drive of Detroit You could probably do the Buick/GM, Ypsi thing all in one day. Too bad the Chrysler museum isn't open anymore, it wasn't a bad setup

" Gm Museum " is actually the Sloan Museum in Flint,Mi., with the Buick Museum across the parking lot-both worth visiting-several hours is plenty. Gm Collection and Chrysler Museum (Auburn Hills) are both open only for special occasions, but both worth it if you can get in. Double + on the Henry Ford and Gilmore-should be highest on your list. Consider an assembly plant visit if you have never been-truck plant in Flint, Lansing car plant are two. Auburn-Cord Museum in Auburn , Indiana is well worth it if you go by in your travels. Corvette Museum and Assembly plant in Bowling Green, Ky is also great.
