If thats the 32 that now resides in California, that color is perfect to my eye.

I googled for the paint code on Moriarity's '61 Impala which was painted 85 Olds autumn maple poly. The PPG code was 3532. I hope that's the same color. I like that color a lot.

Great time for this thread, The truck in the avatar is going to get a paintjob and I have settled on Maroon body with Black fenders. I have been going through color charts for weeks trying to get the right Maroon shade. This thread just made my job a lot easier.:D

After the references on this thread to VW Bordeaux red, I became curious and found this VW color chart http://www.pre67vw.com/colours/default.aspx?cg=1

And a pic of Bordeaux red. It looks way darker to me on the color chart than on the car pictured.

This is the color on my 36 and it changes a lot in various lighting conditions. In bright light it looks red in cloudy conditions it looks brown(ish) and in shadow it looks almost black. Great color and really has a vintage look to it expecially in single stage paint.

That looks just about dead on with '69 Ford Royal Maroon- my Mach1 was that color when new, and it got a lot of attention

That's absolutely stunning! I love this thread. I'm thinking of going with a maroon or burgundy on my 46 fleetline and this is giving me all kinds of ideas.

One more in case the OP is still looking.

'90's GMC Truck color called Medium Garnet Red. This is PPG. a small amount of blue and black was added to create the darker flames.

I can't seem to find a Dupont code for this color, nor does it show up on their website; anybody have a code for Go-Fast Maroon?

    thanks!

  26. What ever maroon you choose it will end up being your choice. Back in 1981 I built this cut down 64 Chevy and painted it with Imron paint using the original Chevy paint code for 1964. I drove the car 90,000 miles and had one grand time with it. Non car people thought the little cut down came from the factory shortened. I always liked the maroon color on some cars, but not all. Pick your color wisely and once it's painted have fun driving it. You only go around once. This car stuff is suppose to be a fun thing, otherwise why would we do it.

FYI, color code for Regency Red. This might get you closer at a paint store.

some colors are perfect on some cars but, not always on another body style

  30. I used a Ford color called Royal Maroon. It was nice solid color that seemed to change in different light. It was on a Model A sedan I did in the 70's. It looks more Red in this photo. But would look much darker in other light. I first saw it on a 40 Sedan and it looked great.
