Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by AHotRod, May 27, 2004.

  1. This is not mine...but my choice is the 348...gives me goose bumps...can't wait to get started with my project with 348 engine...but I'm still collecting the missing project pieces.

  3. how about a 430 Merc. super marauder with 3-2's, this one is in a Mermaid clone

  4. For me it all depends on the car... different cars beg for different engines.

But here's one of our SBC'ies
    Sam.

bsolutely coolest V8 I ever saw was a Hispo-Suzia(sp?) aircraft engine from the early teens. There used to be one in the Indian museum in Rapid City

Hetre is half of a hispano suiza they were wwI aircraft engines they cut em in half and ran em in Big Cars (sprint cars) in the 30's

Auto-stud, We've already solved the McMullen cammer mystery. It was a Moser head conversion on a SBC. The Ford motor was a 427 (not SOHC).

If it was going in a 60's style hot rod I'd have to say 409 with fuel injection off of a mid 60's vette.

Honda's engine for the 2003 IRL IndyCar Series is designated the HI3R Series Indy V-8. This engine is a completely new design developed in partnership with Ilmor Engineering.

The HI3R is Honda's first normally aspirated IndyCar racing engine, intended for competition in the Indianapolis 500 and the IRL IndyCar Series.

Prior to entering the IRL, Honda previously took part in the Championship Auto Racing Teams series from 1994-2002, where the company won four CART Manufacturers' Championships (1996, 1998, 1999 and 2001) and six consecutive drivers' titles (1996-2001).

Teams and drivers utilizing the Honda HI3R engine in 2003 include Andretti Green Racing with Michael Andretti, Dario Franchitti and Tony Kanaan; Super Aguri Fernandez Racing with Atlantic graduate Roger Yasukawa; and Team Rahal with former IRL series champion and Indy 500 race winner Kenny Brack.

The one before is a mugen honda
they used to use 3.5 V10's and Turbo 1.5 V6's
    [IMG]
    Before these they used a 1.5ltr v12!
    no replacement for displacement?

NICE looking engine! I'd have one. I'd change the valve covers to smooth polished ones though.

Maybe some of our Japanese HAMB'rs would love to stroke one and de-tune it, and put it in an old Japanese A-bone (wishful thinking, I bet they were all scrapped many many years ago, but Japan actually had a car that looked almost the same as a Ford Model A! I think maybe Mitsubishi from circa 1930? There is a book on Japanese cars that shows it).

PLEASE tell me that row of Indy engines isn't at your house, or I'm going to turn green (jealousy, not illness)
