In 1960 Maserati wanted to prove their new V-8 was worth a shit. They built a series of 151/LM
Yup this was the q/p motor
This one is a twin plug so it looks like a 450s motor
Each car was a bit different. the run was seven bodies four cars built this is the last unused body....Yup it's a replica but 'Dead on' using all the right parts built just like the original
WHICH IS WHY THE WHOLE DAMN THING IS APART IN MY SHOP!!
I has all the original mistakes that killed good/brave drivers

Every one of the originals were crashed and written off to be rebuilt from ashes and a data plate

So that's why I have a fake. They all are!!

This is a shape I have loved since I first saw it in Road & Track early 60's
When I had the chance I jumped!!

This is 400+hp and 2300# wet
    Body is aluminum
I think I can get a glass windsheild to fit
I'm changing the entire rear suspension
    Power rack instead of box
    Air

And when done-The Terminal Island Freeway will never be safe again!!!

As you know I have lottsa toys
Not all Hot Rods are American
    But they are all fun

    Here's a couple more photos

That's a wild ride. Try to keep it right side up.

Does it run on Alfredo or Marinara? :)

  9. Yup, if I could find one and fund one, a Ford cammer would be the ticket.

Crow, that picture is pretty cool. Were there conversion kits for the Gilmer drive on the cams, or was that a one-off machine shop special?

I gotta go with this idea that keeps poppin up in my head...

-'57(or later) 392 HEMI bored and stroked to 400ci(?)
    -Injected
    -Twin Turbos
    -Air-To-Air intercooler
    -Magneto
    -Ported/polished heads

...say in a 60's style rod. Or an old Harley!!!! This thing could be done on a tight budget too-minus the block, heads, and sheetmetal.KOOOOOL!

I know where there is a Caddie flathead that might be for sale.
Looks like a V8, but I don't know much else at this moment.

    regards,

Not many V8s as cool as this one. Real-deal FoMoCo hardware -- no mega-buck new look-alike block castings used here. Pushed a '27 T roadster above 180 mph on the Salt and currently holds the world record for XF/BFMR. Proud to say I had a hand in building this motor -- porting and crankshaft work.

Man this might be one of the greatest posts to be resurrected.
Heres my 1959 Lincoln 430 with, crower u-fab 6x2, Vertex Mag, isky solid cam,and isky pushrods, valve springs, and rockers. Now its got a set of Merc valve covers. I bought it from UncleScooby. The mill ran in a drag boat out west.

I like this one. Cause it's in my garage and is my best friend. It should work well in a 1900lb car.

I knew it when I sold you the blower - you were going to have just another Cragar belt drive, 4-71 blown, bellybutton small block Chevrolet, backed by a common hurst shifted four speed - and you would have second thoughts.
Well, mister, you will just have to suffer the slings and arrows of the PoohBahs of rodding, because a deal is a deal, and I've already spent the money on the tiki bar, red rims, Von Dutch hat, nailhemirocketillac motor, and fenderless truck that will make me the ultimate of Koolsville. Just get some Olds valve covers, and no one will know......:D

  24. I'm going to get slapped, Impaled, and ran through someone's Y block, But I'd say a Cosworth DFV. I think It'd make a hell of a '32 Racer powerplant.

my pontiac 195 slant 4 is made out of a v8 and its pretty unique looking. it is cool to see so many socalled gearhead rockabillies at shows to see them looking under the hood and running a buddy pointing and scratching their heads saying ...."its only got 4 plugs!?".

  27. Lots of good information here, except for the last one.
Finned aluminum valve covers on a flathead?
I know you mean finned aluminum heads, but I'm being picky today.

Sorry but I'll always think flathead fords define an AV8. They are and always will be the Harley of car motors. Nothing, I mean nothing, sounds or feels like a flathead. Next, I'll have to admit, is an early hemi. There I said it.....I want a hemi. Is there a counseling group for that?
