I'm talking lenses, gaskets, buttons etc etc.

Now I know the tail light lens on a 66 electra is big, but 875 dollars for a NOS is kinda far out. Maybe I'm just that new to this world.

I watched a pair of small dash lights (supposedly VINTAGE, but not really) sell on Ebay for $425. I can still, TODAY, pick up a catalog and order the exact same thing brand new for $18 each.

Printed circuit board that controls the tail lights on my BMW 750il....

You better sit down for this one.....

    $1621.00

Not much bigger than a credit card

36 month warranty, and it went out at 38 months.

Other than that, it was a fantastic car..... Actually I wish I still had the money to afford a $1621 part on a $70,000 car.... *sigh*... The good old days, back when I had $$$$ to burn.

.....and in situations like that, they will usually let it rot away before letting it go for a reasonable price.

At the Carlisle spring swap, I was quoted $350 for an NOS grill for a '63 Rambler Classic. The whole running/driving car was less than that. There can't be too many people looking for that piece.

  15. Chrome hood pieces for the leading edge of the hood on the new 57 pontiacI bought. It came with a solid one with bad chrome. Found a guys parting out a 4 dr - he wants $800 for that one piece of chrome.

"Super-rare canada only piece of chrome" that I will "never find anywhere else" and he was "doing me a favour because he can get $1500 for the rusty hood with that piece on it".

I am just going to get the one that came with it rechromed for $150. Maybe the one on the $250 parts car I am getting is better.

$1300 for a battery cable on a Chrysler Concorde. Yeah it's a newer car but when your longtime mechanic buddy says "HOW MUCH??" you know something's up.

not HAMB friendly, but my son drives an 86 300zx. Replacing the PW motor is $850 from Nissan (but a little searching will yield one for <$50 from a private party)

BTW, this is the same motor that autoloc (and others) sell in their PW kits, but they're just different enough to not work :(

Try owning a '32...insanity is the norm. NOTHING shocks me any more.
Oh, yes, Toyota still does...every red light on the dash means that something the size of my thumb with a wire sticking out needs to be replaced for $700...old Ford parts prices are not ridiculous at all when you start looking at late model parts over the dealer counter.

LOL, oh yea, the famous Chrysler positive battery cable. The cable is part of the wiring harness.

My ex-wife got the battery stolen out of her Dodge Caravan, and the insurance company totaled it!!!!

She bought it back from them, and her boyfriend just spliced on a new cable. They gave her a check for $1600............. She only paid $1000 for the van when she originally bought it used. :D

Last year at the spring Carlisle i was looking for a bellhousing for my SBC. I waited until Sunday to buy one. I saw one sitting right next to some guys tent covered in grease and dirt and asked him how much he wanted for it and he said $350.00. I looked at him and started laughing in his face. I walked two spots down and a guy had the same exact bellhousing sitting there for $40 and i talked him down to $25 on it. I walked back past the guy that said that he wanted $350 for his and he asked me how much i paid for the one i had bought and i said i could have bought 14 of there for what you want for that one and laughed at him again.

I paid $2000 for a Morris Minor, after I dug in to it a bit I discovered it was more rust than steel. I can only blame myself.
