Had a couple fellos show interest in a 33 ford truck tranny I have. What is the new interest in them?
If it's a trans with a separate box from the bellhousing, the hogshead can be used to adapt a T5 to the four cylinder.
Thanks. They were both interested in the actual tranny however. I need to look again but the tranny is behind a V8 so maybe there is no adapter if not a 4cyl?
Same 4spd used up into the early '50s, but wouldn't the V8 "hogshead" would also allow adapting a T-5 to a 59 (or 8BA) flattie?
About 15 years ago I had a 29 model A coupe with one of the BB 4 speed transmissions with reverae lockout and a 3.54 or higher rear end behind the banger and it speedshifted like a T5. My passengers familiar with typical model a shifting always wanted to know what I had and how it shifted so smooth. This was an old hotrod with juice brakes and a hopped up banger so this was an early low budget solution. I think the later ones are synchro.
Thanks. Ebay has a lot of internals for the 4sp tranny right now. Way cheaper clusters, input shafts and gears as compared to the ol` 39 3 speeder parts. Shifter comes out of floor a lot nicer than a T5 also. (Not so far back) I also used a M20 Muncie with 3.55 rear which really woke up the ol flatty. Maybe with a high rear gear the truck tranny might be fun if not noisy with the straight cut gears.
