Featured History What is the most popular 3 Chevys of the Hamb era?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Dec 30, 2024.

  1. I have owned a few Chevys over the years but I feel that none of them were at the top of the list when it comes to being the pick of the litter with Hamber's.

When I was in my teens the tri five Chevys were very popular and in my opinion I still believe the '55/'56 and '57 Chevys are still at the top of my list. HRP

  2. Question should have been...besides the 55,56,57 what are the most popular Chevys. These three just move right to the top. I have a 55 myself. I would vote for the 62 bubble top myself. All the vettes rise to the top as well.

If you list the Tri-5 cars as one choice. Next would be any Corvette that fits the time frame. I think the next would be 37-38's.

  5. The best Chevy that I’ve seen is my cousin’s 33 Mercury Series Chevrolet.
It is small and a perfect platform for a hot rod.

Most popular? that means the ones we see the most?

55-57 cars, then next might be trucks, either the round ones from 47-55, or the stylish ones from 55-59.

Early 60s full size cars are pretty common, and there are certainly a lot of the 49-54s around. 37-38 are neat cars, and I did see one driving around town in the last week or so. The early 30s cars are pretty rare, they're neat, but hardly ever see them unless you know someone who has one.

The early Vettes are pretty popular among those who will pay the premium to get one, but most of them spend their lives tucked away and we don't see them out.

  9. I bought a 1958 vette back in the early 70's and it had saat for a while, but I finally got the car running and realized I was way to tall to be able to drive the car in any type of comfort, I turned a quick profit and sent it down the road. HRP

Along with the obvious Tri five Chevys, I'd add the '37-'38 Chevy coupes.

    All that Squirrel said, natch'
Buuuut by the numbers, I'd cite '62 Impala and the first and the last of the tri-fives.
This is from a guy who grew up on, and in, the street:eek: (not home from age 12 to 32 )

My time spent in a '61 Vette validates HRP's experience.

My choice is the 1953 convertible and then all other 1953 Chevrolets. The 1949 Chevrolets, the 1960 Chevrolets. Really a hard decision, I like most of the "Hamb Friendly" Chevrolets!

Years back before the musclecar flipping hoors (they called themselves collectors) came on the scene and inflated the entry fee I lusted after a 63 Biscayne two door sedan, not a 409 especially, I just liked them for their "grocery getter" look, 327/4speed of course!

    upload_2024-12-30_14-12-43.jpeg

Ended up doing this 64 Impala, original 327/3speed/column, did a Muncie 4 speed swap.

I'm a hardcore Ford guy...and only built 3 Chevies in my whole life...none of which probably fall into anyone's top 3 category.

    High school hot rod.

Only built these cuz I'm a sucker for Panel Deliveries.

The two-ten hardtop sure has become attractive to me in my old age!

    55 2-dr post
    Late 55 pickup
    32 coupe

And these are in NO particular order. Can't kick out any of these.

It's tough choosing top 3, but here goes, 63 split window Vette, 56 Nomad and 61-63 Impala!

Any of the 4 62s I have owned, all hardtops, either of the 55 hardtops that I trashed as a stupid teenager, and of course my avatar. Gotta be a hardtop for me. With a 53, and a 54 at different times in the mix too.
