The best red color is the one that stays in the can :D

I love the "Big John" Mazmanian red. Looks good on the 'Vette, Willys, football Austin, and the Funny Car. Take this from a guy that isn't fond of red's.

Candy Apple Red. Everything else tires and falls short.

This is my 1954 Chevy with GM Victory Red. We drove through dealer lots and my wife picked this color. It is used on several GM models. chevyoutside15.jpg

You can't beat Henry Dana Red...has a hint of purple in it...he's on here. It's a better red than the Prufer coupe.

SPI used to make a perfect red, no orange tint to it at all. Sadly, it's no longer made by them..............

My wagon is Dupont FireMist red, and it is a nice rich color.

I've always thought that the deep red on the new VW's would be a good hotrod color .

Long as red is the subject my nephews and I have decided to go with the stock red on the Unibody. I did a search and I came up with Rangoon red ... does this sound correct to you Ford experts? We only have the dash and interior to go buy, but it sure looks like the same red pictured on the Cobra earlier.

Mazda had a red a few years ago called True Red. To me it was just right. Bright but not to the point of being orange. I put it on an OT Barracuda and it was well received.

All reds you find in a chip book are mixtures.

Think about having your supplier mix a basecoat using Scarlet Red toner only.

It'll be the brightest, reddest red you'll ever see. You'll park next to a red car and it'll put it to shame.

Also if you want to spray the least amount to achieve the true color use a white sealer.

Take a look at Chianti Red......late 80's Chrysler color. Looks a shade darker on a cloudy day, but really pops in the sun!

A buddy did something similar to this back in the 80's on his race car. Had the supplier mix just the base red that is used to make all the other variations. Sumbitch was RED! (& expensive for the times IIRC)

Always loved the GM #74 dark red metallic from the first time I saw it back in the 70's. That's what I put on my car when I had it painted.
