what is the rarest car you have come across

how about a Jordan, never heard of it until I saw this one at Pate.

 

Is Pate somewhere west of Laramie?

Not really sure if this qualifies, but its the only one I've seen on the road. I think it's a 1918 ford center door.

 

I forget the exact year ate 20's early 30's wipit, Im not sure if i spelled that right

 

Whippet. Like the breed of dog. Made by Willys-Overland. The radiator shells of certain year Whippets were intensely popular for Model Ts in the pre-war era. They were the Deuce grille for the three-springer guys.

I believe the rarest FoMoCo product I have encountered was a 42 Mercury convertible... Thing is I have all the stuff including the vert title to turn a 46 Merc into a 42 in a few hours..

 

When I was fresh out of the military and working on the farm back home, my dad and I bought a 65 Chevelle from a guy who used to be a part-time mechanic. The Chevelle belonged to a customer of his who never paid for the work, so he got a new title for it with a mechanic's lien.

It sat for over 10 years when we bought it for $500. The old mechanic just assumed it was an ordinary Chevelle.

It didn't run, the paint looked like hell and it was missing the front bumper, but the body was solid, so we trailered it home and started to tear into it when my dad noticed the 160 mph speedo and the big disk brakes.

This was pre-internet, so we made a few phone calls and eventually ended up speaking to the president of the Chevelle owners club (can't remember the exact name of the club) and found out it was a factory Z16. This guy immediately offered $5K over the phone...site unseen....solely based on my dad's description.

We took his offer and he showed up about a week later with an enclosed trailer to haul it back to the east coast. (I think the guy was from South Carolina)

We took half of the money and gave it to the old mechanic....he was floored that someone would do that.

 

1937 Lincoln Zephyr Coupe. First year of the coupe body style. In the "collection" and for sale. I figured it would be my only chance to own one.

 

I noticed my cousin had a primered rusted up old (OT) Barracuda parked at his Dad's house. Checked it out closer and it turned out to be a 4-speed AAR 'Cuda, originally panther pink.

 

I am a firefighter and we responded to a garage fire in San Marino, CA. We opened the garage and there sat the nicest 1934 V-16 Packard limosine with a front drivers open air seat I have ever seen. As a matter of fact it was the only 1934 Packard limosine I have ever seen.

It'd be like spitting on the Mona Lisa, but I have this overwhelming urge to get in one of these and just put it through it's paces.....drive it real hard.

This is Edsel Fords '34 Ford Speedster. it has quite a history to it.

 

friend has 2 of these stored in his tractor barns, on the second floor, won't sell, so there are 2 more around.

 

When someone says they "HAVE" a certain car and don't produce an image of said car are full of do-do...........
The rarest car I was in was a 1940 Lincoln Zephyr Continental Convertible (54 built ) and any of my race cars as they were one offs.....

 

In the 1950's and 60's my uncle had what was called a Jordan Play Boy. There where only three in left. He had the entire car all wrapped up in storage. I left for the War in 65, and he died. Wouldn't you know it his wife sold it for scrap. I never talked to my aunt till the day she died.

 

I owned a 62 Nardi bodied Abarth coupe, one of a handful ever built by Vignale.

 

My Avatar car, I own 2 of them. PA series Vauxhalls. I have pics of them in my albums. There's maybe 7 of them in America.

 

I seen a 1939 Willys Californian this weekend. It might just be the only 1939 around as I heard they started in 1940.

 

Not as exotic as some previous models. My:-

1. all steel 35 Chevy phaeton is body # 507 of only 647 produced by GMH in Australia;
2. 46 Olds sedanette is chassis # 713, and one of only 3,498 units produced between 15^th October 1945 and 21^st November 1945. A UAW s[FONT=&quot]trike prevented Olds production from 21^st November 1945 to 1[/FONT][FONT=&quot]^st[/FONT][FONT=&quot]April 1946. Dated August 1945 when WW2 finished.

Ive got chunks and pieces of a 1932 Studebaker Model 91 President Roadster I pulled out of the woods!! There are only 9 complete ones known to exist.

Years ago around 1952/53 I had a 1937 3/W hupmobile with Raymond Loewy designed body. The car came out of Rochester New York. Sure wish I had that today. Best pic I have is of the assend under the old oak tree. I used it as a driver while hotrodding the 50 chev vert.

 

My fater in law once owned the Alexander Bros Tasca 505 mustang and as a teen I got to work on it all the time.{pics at theponysite.com} He later bought a 67 Shelby GT 500 that my brother in law still has. 42,000 mile car.

 

I unfortunately don't have a picture of it; but an old neighbor of mine had a small collection of Desoto's (3 to be exact) and he noted that one was a very rare all black convertible with white top. I never validated his claim, but it was a gorgeous car none-the-less.

 

The 51' Mercury Woodie Wagon at Disneyland's Califorina Adventure. They pull a live band around the main strip with it.

 

this has since been restored to how edsel owned and drove it. it is now black.. there is a video of it after the restoration on jay leno garage webpage.. lots of entertain videos on his webpage.

In the late 1980's I don't think I have pics anymore but a couple of Morgans and a 1964 Mustang station wagon,yes it was built by Ford.
