Appears to be a coil; in what I don’t know, is it a handmade case the coil sits on? Or factory? Marine? Is this for a car , truck? This is a late 1953 manifold for 331 Hemi, Stromberg Aerotype 2BBL, with the “heated” carb riser.
    Any ideas? Thanks all!!

    Speed governor?
The whole assembly looks a lot like my '58 truck 354.

Looks like something military with the coil inside a sealed housing.

Update; coil is 24 volt. I am thinking this is a marine application.
