What is this cab? What could it become?

Does anyone know what this could be? I think it's part of a 30's Buick.
No numbers or ID tags. Just the details.

Any suggestions on where to go with it? I have a 55 Poncho motor I
could use but the firewall is beggin for an inline. Grille? Pickup Bed?
    Chop? Stance? Suicide?

  2. Ok, here's an idea. Cut the door-tops off and do it up as a roadster pickup. Hasta have a buirck straight 8 .....and a gennie Buick radiator shell [complete with emblem] and you get extra points for running old Buick wire wheels with the badged buick hubcaps. Tubular headers are a must as is a Hallock style windshield. A shorty model A or T pickup box with the F-O.R.D. script removed from the tailgate and the Buick logo rolled in or airbrushed on..
I'd go with a T-5 tranny behind that straight 8 using an available adapter....
In lieu of a Hallock windshield, a pair of monacle, fold down windshields [each with it's own wiper] would be wild!

Here is my take: Don't chop it - look at the windshield frame. It's short enough as is. And then you get to keep that really neat header piece over the windshield.

Keep it a closed cab. Since you already have a nice back section, mate it to the doors. Then do hot rod flat roof as a standard pickup, add a bed in proportion to the cab. Engine of choice (Buick aluminum 215 V8 ?) - Any 20s or 30s Buick grill shell. No fenders - And you're done.
    OR
    My choice:
For something classier - Add a filler piece between the back of the doors and the back section to get some legroom. Do the roof as as a canvas or padded leather top. This would make it an elegant close-coupled victoria touring coupe. Add a touring trunk insead of a bed. Long hood to cover the straight-eight Buick, and full-fenders or extra-wide, cycle-fenders maybe pirated from a 1953 Indian Chief or any year Harley (both available repro). => Custom body, hot-rod heart.

In case you've never seen a close-coupled touring coupe, I have a pic of a Rolls Royce in that body-style to suggest proportions. I'm not suggesting a resto - keep it an elegant Buick rod.

Custom frame, deep channel, roadster the thing, short bed, straight eight or six flathead, suicide front, chopped windsheild, six carbs, need I say what exhaust, posi trac rear. Yeah, that sounds about right.

But its all up to you. :D

  9. That could make a most bitchen roadster pickup... just make sure the front is lower than the back...

    Sam.

Yea, that looks good. For something a little different chop it about 3" ,add around 6" between the doors and back panel for more leg room. Then make a cloth top like a model A cabrioliet (sp). I thought about doing a 28-29 A pickup like that but have more projects started now than I'll probably ever finish.

Thanks for the responses. Great Ideas.

I do wan't to keep the visor area although a chop is possible. A suicide front end and under cowl steering are also on the list. Any suggestions on type of frame. A, 32, custom?? What about a trunk like this?
