So, today I stumbled on this van in the woods. What is it? This is the only picture I took. I was to excited and tried to take it in, so I forgot to use my camera more than once. If you know what it is, do you have any photos of others?
search vintage step van post.. there's a few, those curved windshield glasses, I think an early 60's Grumman but don't quote me on that....
Thanks: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=282902&showall=1 Here it is for anyone else to peruse.
The window shape looks similar to the late 50's early 60's grumman's on the previous thread. Those vans have a more raked nose than this one does. I'll try for more pictures next time I get out there.
also, i'm sure there were more body builders too, they could probably get a chassis from GM windows from Grumman, and then go to town on however they felt the body should be made... anyone? where is squirrel, he would know....
Sure looks like a step van. Notice the sliding door....that's something you only find on step vans. Oh..here's a link to the Lyn Airvan http://imcdb.org/vehicle.php?id=445209
That's amazing Squirrel! Thank you very much. Are there many of these out there? The one I took the photo of also says "Ford" on it. I wonder what motor is in it. I know nothing about vans. Do they have any value? Are there collectors? I just thought it was the coolest thing I've seen in a while and hope it ends up in a good home.
I found a little description of it on another site, which said the Lynwood body company made around 400 of them total. There were different chassis used, there's a pic of a GMC. That's all I know about them. I'd guess it's pretty rare. Although that doesn't make it valuable.
