I actually think it's a belt/strap keeping the door closed. Not saying it's not chopped but a strap makes more sense... suicide doors have whipped open in far less harsh driving.

That's my guess.

I see what you mean, and I agree. This would be harder to actually do, making those hood sides would be a real challenge, but I agree that I like the proportions better this way. I didn't quite get the hood louvers aligned properly in this one but it shows the idea well.

Just when you think you've seen it all, this thread pops up. That original photo I'd never seen. Intriguing. Then when Squablow did the first PhotoChop, I thought, damn, that's awesome. A 5-window fastback. Why hasn't anyone done one? With all the strange things that have been built, the trends, the Fordors converted to whatever.
