With the wood work involved, I wouldn't take it as a gift........well, maybe as a gift I would, but I sure wouldn't spend a lot on it. The wood framed bodies are why you see fifty early-30's Ford for every Chevy of those years.

Frame is hell for strong, probably a third stronger than a ford and supports the parallel leaf springs well. Stock steering is very good as is. You can buy new kingpins, etc. readily. Parts supply are Bowtie reproduction, Filling Station, Gary Wallace, Chevys of the 40s. plus more.

On my custom truck, Due to the location of the crossmembers, I removed all of the existing crossmembers up-front. I fabbed and mounted with bolts all replacement crossmembers to frame web. First I built a front one/radiator and mounted the radiator down low to accomodate the body channel that I planned. Next crossmember was under the motor/oil pan up to the frame in line with 250 Chevy L-6 mid-engine mounts. Third was at rear end of tail of ******. After that I added one more crossmember, just behind the front one going down under the front of the crank pulley to mount rear stear-rack and pinon.

No need to box the frame unless you're going for 400 horses or more, but boxing is a good option just to have a place anywhere you want to weld motor mounts to and eliminate a couple of crossmembers if that's what turns you on.
Blueprinted, the stock mechanical brakes are excellent but the mechanism across the frame would have encroached on locating ****** at optimum height, so I ditched them. One could run the ****** under that mechanism but that would prevent any lowering of the frame/ch***is. Above, as with stock, the motor/****** is pretty high up for a hotrod, unless of course, you are opting for a stock stance.
