The car just hasnt been ran since the 80's. The guy has the ***le and is the second owner. There is some mildew on the inside. He is asking 1,500 Do you think thats to much?

imho i dont pay over $500 for anything i can see run, unless its REALLLLY rare... i recently paid more, but it was for a car that there are only 1800 of, and it will be for sale here after some work... i would say $500-1000 depending on how bad you want it man.. not really a rare care, or even that sought after, so its your call... expect to spend another $500-1000 to get it on the road and driving after brakes, motor needs, etc... would you pay $2500 for it if it was driving now? i mean thats how you have to look at it, and mildew can be NASTY, but can come out easy sometimes.. so up to you man, me i say no... it would have to be DEAD solid, 100% complete, decent interior, and i would have to want it BAD to pay that.. offer him $750 and bargain from there, its not like he can drive it around... i mean its gonna cost you another $100 to get it towed home!

I don't know how scarce solid '65 Thunderbirds are in Arkansas, but in NY, it wouldn't be available for long at $1500.

Im with heathen...btw this thread is in the wrong section...but that said....

$1500 aint really that much at all, Ive gambled buying cars for more than that, and have lost lol. You can stick with a low ball figure like 51 said, but after awhile you will realize all ur buying is mostly 4 dr junk. At least this Bird has some value to it when fixed up. If the owner is cool, take the plugs out, soak the cyls with your drug of choice, try turning the motor through the paces (about 5 full rotations) and make sure that it doesnt feel tight at certain spots. if its loose as a goose and it sounds like its got compression, check the trans dipstick (make sure it doesnt look like dark motor oil) and id say go for it. imho not the coolest car, but if the interior is decent besides the mildew, it aint bad. you can get it together for $500 or less depending on skills and parts hookup, the 60 plym in my avatar was in similar shape...i did mechanicals/brakes/body/interior for under $500 including purchase price. it can be done. good luck!

thanks guys its really solid no rust anywhere one dent in the whole thing. I kinda thought i would offer a little less and see what he would take. The car is complete nothing missing. This guy is the proven second owner.

    thanks chris
