Listing some parts on ebay for a friend . Had this in the box of parts . What is it ???

 

For a bicycle.

 

if I'm not mistaken,it takes a lightbulb and is used as a dash light.

 

weird? Almost looks like a head light automatic dimmer.

 

Since it has a white lens and a red lens that says front and rear warning.
Small says bicycle or trailer.
The clear celluloid lens may be illumination for a license or speedo.

 

Yep, Looks like its missing the wire to plug into the cigarette lighter. Also looks to be missing the magnet base so that you can put it anywhere on your car at any given moment.
( or are the dark grey strips in the base the magnets ) ?

 

Had one similar, years ago. it mounted on a stand and plugged into the lighter and was used to light up the wheel when changing a tire and also provided a warning light for traffic

 

If the white lens was green I would think it off a boat. A standardize port/starboard configuration
