I won't commit to only one, but this one is near the top of my list. As bad-ass as any street roadster in history.

There's a long list of very worthy contenders, but for me there's only one champion:

Perfect appearance, superior performance and craftsmanship, owner-built, and most of its details were invented by Doane before anybody else did them.

It's hard to pick just one. The jack Morgan 34 is one of my favorites.

Mooneyham - Sharpe '34 Coupe or the Orange Crate. Kind of a toss up... But like many have said, there are far too may cars that are my favorite.

It's my Uncle Nick's hot rod. He finished it in 73 a year after I was born. Its a little hokey in some areas... but for me it represents home built hot rodding at its best.

He adapted Pinto front suspension on it... in 73... did everything in his garage... engine, body, paint, interior. Then he drove the doors off of it.

It seems to be in a constant state of improvment... he's always tinkering with this... or making that better.

Everything on it has been done by him. If he can't find the part in the junkyard he builds it... he machines his own fittings... makes his own brackets...

He is everything that hot rodding should be... and when I look at him I see that car... when I see that car I think of him.

    Its blood.

    Its soul...

    Its family.

Give me a choice between that and the Doan Spencer roadster... Deaths Doorstep... "that model A that starts fights" and I'll choose my Uncles 32 every time.

After careful consideration I have to rank this one way up there in my book.

It's about time someone put Prufer's '34 up. I've been unable to locate my photo of it or it would have been here already.

And I didn't even have to give it careful consideration.

Yeah-the Cop car is way cool.

  19. This may not be a famous hot rod that graced the pages of the early 60s magazines. The builder is relatively unknown, unless you travel in the small circle of his life long friends. To me this is my favorite hot rod. It is my first memory of a hot rod. No matter what I build or drive, it always takes me back to the time I spent sitting behind the wheel with my eyes burning and my ears ringing Imagining what it would be like driving it on my own. If not for this chopped up little car and its builder, I may not have ever entered this hobby.
