Hot Rods What is your "go to" wheel for a street brawler?

It's my high school ride. My old 36 Ford pickup. Here's a pic of it back in 1984.

 

I can't say why but all my cars had Cragar S/S wheels back in the days.
62 Nova II 15x4 and 15x10
55 Chevy 2 door hard top 15x7 front and rear.
72 C10 15x8 front and rear.
I have 15x4.5 on the front of my Pontiac.

 

60's to me would be slots, torque thrusts or cragar 5 spoke, in particular order.

It would totally depend on the car, the small ford's would be torque thrusts, later 60's would be cragars, the full size chevies would be slots....

Oh and don't forget about car color too....

I wanted aluminum slots...always seemed to spend money on tires and engine parts instead, though!

The right combination of mismatched wheels is awesome. Like big ass aluminum slots on the rear and skinny Cragar S/S or Torque Thrusts on the front.

 

I was always a original torq thrust guy,no caps

 

And Daisy 200s

 

I just need to work on the "brawler" part of this one...



But this one normally wears mismatched shoes, black steelies are fine on the street, while lighter aluminum wheels are it for racing.

 

Ran a 200s/slots combo on my street/strip brawler for awhile, then went slots all the way. The slots have now become the street setup only.

 

That's alotta cool right there! that looks really fun to drive?

If I was doing that truck I'd stick the tallest tire that would physically fit in the fender opening and wide enough to stick out at least 2 inches, up front a shorter skinny tire with the front suspension dropped down almost hiding the entire top of the tire up into the fender.
I would run sharp edge 5 spokes at minimum a 10 inch rear with a deep offset, with a skinny 4 inch sharp edge 5 spoke up front so it stays well inside the fender lip, I would go as far as putting tri-bar "knockoffs" on the centers too.
Just think of a Lance Sorchik illustration with big rake, big sidewall in rear and a buried front tire deep up inside the front fender.

 

I had a pair of 15's in magnesium, some kind of SCCA racing spec rim for corvettes

If I run a 10” tire, it almost touches both sides. A 235-75-15 is about as wide as a guy can go. Any thing wider and I would have to run air shocks.

 

a "60's street brawler" would have slots or aluminum 5 spokes.

 

Well this would set the date for this style wheel.

 

A great example of bad ass street beast, and the wheels are too cool.
