Hot Rods What is your weakness - What Parts do you have a fettish for???

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by fiftyv8, Dec 17, 2012.

  1. I have a few gas pedals. I don't need them all, I probably only need one but I don't know which one so it is good to have options.

Y-block and FE Ford stuff, especially induction systems, carburetors, and 4 speeds. Just found one Ive been looking for along time. Weiand Dragstar 6x2 for a Y-Block. Oh and I almost forgot, superchargers, like a Latham or anything Paxton. It's a disease boys, and there aint no cure, or even a twelve step program. Of course what fun would that be?

Magnesium wheels, Ford steel wheels, flathead speed equipment, and my big weakness: Stewart-Warner gauges.

I've got an addiction for anything to do with forced induction. I've got quite the collection of turbo chargers and original Detroit superchargers.

Wheels...........I've tried to kick the habit of buying wheels that I don't need, but I keep finding deals on old wheels and I can't seem to pass them up.

Glad to see I'm not the only one.

Engines, I have 11 on engine stands and four on the floor. Valve covers, I have 50 sets on the walls. All these are not "real" special but it's bordering OCD

I collect OE scripted valve covers, have 12-13 sets so far. I also like 5 gallon oil cans, and really anything gas/oil related. Big fan of pretty much anything mid 60's down.

  12. Can't go to a swap meet without bringing home at least 1 steering wheel. All my cars have steering wheels, I don't get it. A good looking one at a cheap price I can't refuse. Maybe someone can give me some direction here. Bwahahaha. Pat

Vintage 6 and 4-71 blower stuff. Weiand, Isky, Cragar, Delta, Pete's. Don't have much right now but I can't pass it up if I see it cheap. Magnesium wheels and Olds rears are right behind that.

I seem to have an overabundance of headlights, gauges & steering wheels.

Ford clocks---running or not----1937-1940. Plus anything laying on the ground that is shiny, like a crow I can't pass it up. Six months later when I decide I can't use it I throw it away----It's a hobby.

I cant pass up vintage Moon gauges or multiple carb manifolds.. I need to improve my carb rebuild skills so I can actually use some of this stuff.

  22. I have (10) model A engines not counting the (2) in my coupe and rpu, (1) 9n motor, a 2.3 pinto banger, and a single sbc. I started collecting stromberg 48s (2), 97s (8), and 81s (3) because they run well on 4 cylinders. I know I have a problem, but my role model has (80) model A engines and probably as many desireable carbs you would see at a whole swapmeet.

I have only bought at prices I could resell for more $ or sell to my friends to make my purchase price back and help them out.

Any time I see an add that says "Model T&A parts" I always jump at it hoping that....

    ....never happens.

I have a yard full of crap, but no visit from Heidi Klum so far.

Yeah, I forgot to mention an issue I had a few years back where I was buying every model T coupe door hinge and latch I could find. It seemed like I ended up with way more than I could use.
In the end I just bought another body to use them on, crazy logic I know...

Sloted aluminium wheels. I traded for another set last week and now I'm looking for a car to put them on? It really is a sickness.

Inliner stuff, intakes, aluminum engine parts, bits of Model A bodies.

Collector, Hoarder, whatever; you know you're in deep when you find yourself buying parts for project cars that you don't own already.

( Hey, this would really be cool on a ..... )

    Later, Kinky6
