I'm usually pretty good at spotting old American or import cars, but this one has me stumped. Suicide front doors, and unique headlight housings that blend into the frontend. Recessed door handles also. Running G/G, so I'm guessing a six or flathead V8.
Yeah, I thought so too, but it's not any Austin, or English Ford version. Checked through years of Google pics of Austin, Anglia, Prefect, Morris, etc., and can't find anything like it.
I think you may be onto something! I just did a search of various years of Opel, and this picture of 1939 Opel came up. It doesn't have suicide doors, but maybe an earlier version did?
Bingo! Just googled your reply and it seems to be the same car, right down to the door handles and suicide doors! Thanks!
Boy, the Renault and Opel sure look like they were designed by the same person, except for suicide doors!
You just can't ignore the authority this response demands. No question marks or uncertainty. Just "that is a..." I believed it true the minute I read it.

I am always amazed (no matter how often I see it here) how the membership comes through with good answers to car questions. Thanks!
