I've been driving past this wreck for a few years now, and finally stopped to get a pic. What did it used to be? Just curious.

Wow... "was" doesn't start to describe that. Looks like two different ones.

    What?
Hot Start to the Left, Run in the middle, No Heat to the Right?

What was this for? Sorry about my ignorance on this one. Is this some sort of generator or farm implement?

  9. Its gotta be one of those mid 30's F.U.B.A.R.s...

    Hmmmm...weird instructions!
Can't see the connection between "Hot start" and "no heat" all on the one switch.

I suppose it wasn't a steam car or something?

More importantly...is there enough body to build from??? :)

The tag is the heater control badge. My 50 Buick had the heater coil under the seat. Round with the fan in the middle.

I live in the same town as Jeff and the "car" in question. I've been wondering what it was for awhile too. It has sat there as long as i can remember, and about a year and a half ago or so it had a shape more be fitting a car. One day I saw a laddie and her husband looking at it and i think that they may have "barrowed" some stuff off of it for what ever reason. I have a feeling that this car may never be ID by the world and have to be barried in an unmarked grave in a few years. But for the sake of its mother, lets find out what it is :D. So i went over board a bit, but i do want to know what it use to be aswell.

I think that little plate is actually from the airplane that crashed into the thing...

  18. Looks like what is left of an Edsel Alley Ostrich.:D

I don't even recognize the dash on nthat one but if I had to fathom a guess I'd guess it was an old Hudson just jugeing by the cyclops gauge in the center of the dash.

  19. Hudson was all metal way before most other cars. Try this: 35 Buick I think.

  20. You guys ever seen the Book...Car Crashes and Other Sad Stories???

I gave kmember a copy as a tip on a tattoo he was doing for me, and his dad(Oldbeet) and this crusty old **** named Browny they were going thru car wreck photos much worse than anything you have posted here...and the *******s were naming off all the twisted steel like it was nothing!

well they came to something that was just a mangled bumper in the street and theyu say what kind of car it was by part of a fricken bumper bracket...I was like BS...well...before Vintage Auto went out of business in Woodinville Browny and I were out there(this is before he started the junkyard on fire!)and he says he look theres that bumper from that book of your's, only in better condition....so I take a picture with the digital and pour over the book when I get home...guess what, the Guys were right...

so moral is...don't be suprised if one of the older guys on here figures out what that pile is/was....

  26. Someone will recognize it (probably by the dash), try the AACA forums "what Is it" board - they picked out my weird speedo as '40 Hudson no problem.

Cowl and dash panel are probably worth saving, the rest who knows.
