keeping the old traditional stuff (stock) or adding all these different mods IFS, puttig chevy with ford or vice versa (parts), or a jaguar set up rear end

Since this is a board for traditional hot rods and hot rodding, I'm going to vote for traditional stuff, like quick changes, dropped i-beams and multiple carbureted set-up on engines like nailheads and flatheads with more horsepower than any poor tranny can handle:D

What makes a great rod is combining neat OLD parts with cool HOMEMADE parts.

Or you could build a generic street rod from mailorder parts like you would get from TCI.

They are all great, as long as you drive them and enjoy them. Of course here our tastes run to traditional but anything that is not a cookie cutter 1-800 car catches my attention.:D
There are a lot of cars here that are great cars. One that really stands out in my mind is Alex (metalshapes) roadster. You can look it over all day and still not catch all the mods.
My buddy Ricky's rat rod truck has a lot of neat tricks, electric screw jacks concealed in the frame to raise & lower it, etc.
Roothog's Drag n Fly. Tyler's flt-blk PU with the Stude engine. Anything that that Reggie (Hotwheel) builds or drives. Hundreds more.
But one of my favorites is my friend Olen's 32 5w that he has owned since 1957, put a 57 Chev 265 bored to 283 in it in '57, except for tires & wheels, fresh primer it is basically just like it was back in the day, I got a copy of a National Dragster article dated 8-23-1963 artice with picture of him running @ Caddo Mills, C altered runoffs, defeated national champion Bill Rasmusson's Fiat by turning 12.96 @ 109.46. That's a great car, with a lot of history, that is still being driven today. Check it out @ Roundup.

  17. What makes a great rod ....Hot Rod Or street Rod Can Be summed up in one word ....."Details" when your seeing a car for the 15th time and your still seeing things you missed the other 14 times. That's when I say its a GREAT ROD, Just my opinion, Louver Dude
