  4. Here is another to bounce this up to the top. I think this deserves another round.

me making Vrrooom Vrooom noises in the my dad's old altered ( all I have is the tub). He called it a poor man's bantum (yes they were even high back then). 1951 MG TD.

When I get to it it will be as different as anything out there. Do ya think?

Anyway just to bounce it back to the top.

It'll put me on the wrong list, but I love it.

Building mine a bit out of the "traditional" as well.

  6. Actually the little turbo coupe mill is a pretty nice little motor. Some f of the parts can be pricey and hard to come by (like the exhaust manifold), and they had a quirk or two that can make ya crazy but all in all a pretty slick setup.

A friend has one in an off topic car that he put 100K on driving 80 miles to work dailey, always at 80 MPH and above and got somewhere over 30 MPG as I recall.

Sooooo who else has something that is a step or two above below or aside from what they consider to be the norm?

  7. Damn, that is cool.

Nah,it's not porn. They were old NAPA calendars with Brooke Burke, the blonde from the Lee Majors "Colt Seavers" tv show and a few other wholesome young ladies. All in modest bathing suits.
My buddy Rick is a 'glas genius and one night we got to making a platform for my Poplar bed boards and after a few "alcoholic bolsters" my buddy Bloss decided to position the girls under the second layer of cloth.
It's a great example of how my friends have helped me enjoy an old truck and try to make a hot rod out of it?
I'm lucky to have great friends...

  20. I did I was hoping it would rev or something.

I really like that car but I am afraid that those gams are going to screw up the aerodynamics. ;)

Mine is different for a few reasons. This was the first hotrod I ever got to drive when I turned 16 back in 1979. It was built by a friend and his father in my hometown. 29 years later I bought it from him and am now changing it from a disco-era street rod to a more traditional early 60's hotrod.

It's a mish-mash of pieces, starting with the '27 Essex 2-door sedan body that was shortened into a pickup cab. The door hinges were changed from the original piano-hinge style to 1930 Chevy hinges, which messes up a few people. Other than the cab and the hood the rest of the "truck" is made up of 1930 Chevy parts...rad shell, fenders, splash aprons, running boards, bumpers, frame, etc. I've modified the Chevy rad shell with some Essex shutters.

    Before...

    MY ABSOLUTE DREAM RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is what I want to build. As a matter of fact, I build it everyday in my head and it costs about $350,000.00 (at least that's what my wife thinks)

My vehicles both Hot Rod and O/T are built and modified to suite me and not to follow some new trend (like giant wheels) and they fit my big butt. No radios, white walls, flat paint or air bags.

  24. It was just something that people from our generation (mine and waddyacare's) said no one cared about the joke.

  25. My T Bucket is different in that I sculptured 3D flames into the side of the body. The flame design is the same as the Kookie Car but my T Bucket itself is not a clone of Norms famous T Bucket. The rear suspension uses Rees bars a first on any T Bucket. We used them back in the late 60's and early 70's on our sprint cars. The grill shell is a one of a kind unit that I sculptured out of foam and later made from a fiberglass mold.
It took me fifty years to build my T Bucket so the entire car is hand built from nothing but raw materials. Even the body was made from a 1960's body that I made new molds off. The front axle was fabricated and constructed from a fixture that I made for just one piece. The set up engine is one of my fiberglass set up engines that I've been building and selling for over twenty five years. Even the valve cover on the right side is a one of a kind two piece unit that I cast in 1969 after making the foundry patterns.
    Thanks for looking.

  26. Johnny,
You are using hairpins on both ends? Your rear looks like a hair pin to me? You are calling it a reese bar? I am not familiar with that setup.

It is just a question, OK?

  27. Hi Porknbeaner,
Reese bars are the same arms used on the different reese set ups for trailers and the tow bars. The bars come in different ratings from 150 to 200 lbs. We used then back in the day on round track racing sprint cars. On the ends of the Reese bars we hung small chains and the ride height and wedge could be adjusted by just raising or lowering the bar by moving an adjusting bolt from one chain link to another. Later we went to torsion bars and never looked back, but for a small time in history the Reese bars ruled on some of the tracks around the country.
    Later, Johnny
