 Sorry Gary that one is kinda cool.
What I was getting at was more aimed at a few guys who only care about the trophy and the rest be damned.
I've met at least one. :D

Yeah Larry I know what you mean. Trophy Hounds. We build our rods for ourselves and if a little acclaim comes along all the better.

My favorite trophy was a "Kids Pick" trophy I got a few years back.

Only trophy I ever won I still have, when I was building my 36 I won a "best unfinished" trophy. It meant something, still got it. Maybe that's why it never got finished....why screw up a good thing?

You know it's yours, when even after it's been sold to a new owner everyone still says, isn't that your car?

For me, it's the title in my hand. In 45 years I haven't yet bought someone's project

  7. What makes my car mine, I built it for me. I try to do everything I can on them and when I can't, the work that I have done is done the way I want it. I have more time than money so anything I can make in my one car garage using the tools I have is going to get made before it gets bought. That's what makes my cars mine, I build them myself.

I am a firm believer that the dash of the car is the personallity of the car itself. I think with the amount of old cars on the road today its hard to have your car stand out in the crowd. When i built my roadster i had collected parts and stuff for years prior. I put alot of thought of what i wanted to look at whilst driving my hot rod. I purposely tried my hardest to not build the same car that you see at every car show. It wasn't that hard and i think more guys should try to think outside the box a bit, within reason of course cause that shit can go south in a split second. In my opinion the dash is the perfect place to make it your own, so to speak. Be different, and be a leader not a follower. In the end you will be a happier guy or gal....

Spend a few thousand hours and a few thousand $ to make everything the way I want it:

I hate those things, kind of like Chuckie's weeny cousin.

As for making it your own, only you know it's your own.I'm very subtle in the way I do things. On occasion I've had people ask me if I own a certain ride and I'll say "yes, how did you know?"I guess I do things a certain way.
