Currently building a 48 Plymouth 5 passenger coupe with a 354 New Yorker engine, 727 torqueflite, "B" body sure-grip (742) and a whole lot of love. Winter project now is Vintage Air (heat, air and defrost). Can't wait till Spring and all this snow is gone so we can cruise again.:D

I'm building a 1933 Chevy 5 Window Coupe, I'll be running an old race motor I have had for years. A 1969 455 Hurst olds, I ran this mill in a couple of cars over the years. A very strong motor - nothing like Cubic Inches.

Just an FYI, if you swap out that long water pump for a shorter '67 330 F-85, you will get a couple more inches of clearance.. Here's a few pics

    http://59chevypickup.webs.com/apps/photos/album?albumid=12340016
remember to use the correct WP pulley with it as the impeller is much larger on the 330 pump

What letter code is on the heads on your 455?

I assume you took that pic of the 3 pumps together there - you don't happen to have the height measurements on those do ya? I do believe I have a short one on my 350, but I'm not sure. It could be the mid-length one. Its definitely not the long pump.

I figure I'm going to have to make my pulleys. Ever tried to find single or even two groove pulleys for an olds engine? Get your wallet out.

    Why? Cause it was there.

Do a search for marine or jetboat pulleys. I found a single groove "JA" water pump pulley from an old mid 70's 455 jetboat. I also got the crank pulley, reinforcement plate, Hardin Marine valve covers, & alt bracket.

Here's my jetboat alternator bracket installed

No height measurements on the pumps, but the shortest one is that napa unit # 58-293

The 455 heads are "F" heads, the water pump is also coded for the Hurst package.

I hope this isn't a stone-able offence, but I'm building my little modified around a GM 2.8 60V6. Several reasons....first and foremost that it and a 700R4 out of a good running daily driver were practically given to me. Second, because it's something different.

Well the only HAMB friendly thing I have going right now is my 62 Unibody. It has a 350/350 combo ... why? Because that's what was in it when I got it, and I have no problem with a small block Chev.

I was thinking about this. I have three extra 350/350 combos, two Caddy 500's, enough of an old 283 to put it together, and a 427 4bolt Chev big block. So if I got my Unibody with no engine, it would still end up having a GM engine in it =)

Be careful with water pumps from marine engines, can be reverse rotation. I found out
while modding a 455 Olds from Hardin Marine.

So 10 years back the newspaper add said "'56 chevy engine, $25.00". We got in touch a few days later and it turned out to be a "rebuilt, but but not started, in storage for 10 years" 265 which I needed far more than I needed $25. Another 10 years passed before I had time to open it up and find out that "rebuilt" ment "hone job" and I dropped it off to my machinest to bore out to a 283 -- which was what I really wanted in the first place.

Desoto, mostly because a Chrysler is too wide for a t cowl.

Oh, and a small-journal 327 in my '66 chevy II, because its the right thing to do.

Viper V10 that I bought off of a local online classified along with some other Viper parts for $1500. Seemed like a good idea at the time considering I didn't have a project to put it in. Luckily I managed to find the 34 Plymouth coupe that I had been wanting and the infatuation has begun. Trying to keep it all mopar.

yep, another sbc, but with a history,4 or 5 yrs ago I bought a roller31 tudor as seen in my avatar from a guy in n. ga mtns, then I called my racin buddy from the 80's and told him of my plans to build a hotrod/race car, and he said , I've still got our old dirt track motor do you want it......hell yea. and the rest is history. we built this sbc for a dirt track car, 64 chevelle. raced it for 3 years . it's a350 bored 30 over iron double hump heads with small valves 2 bolt mains and 1 rebuilt rod. iput the tunnel, headers, 750 AED carb and took it to the strip.......11.90 at 108 so far.....

SBC in both of my cars and my OT Camaro ragtop, History tends to repeat itself, always been a SBC guy, have had others, BBC, some Fords, IMO you can't beat a crate SBC for $$$ value and performance. NOW! IF $$$ was no object, I can think of a few, Electronically Fuel Injected DOHC Ford/Foyt Indy Car style engine in a 32 Ford Roadster, 572 chev crate with Richmond 6-speed in a Resto-Mod 57 Chev Belair coupe, Dodge Viper motor in a 34 Dodge or Plymouth coupe/sedan. and your idea of an OFFY 4 banger in something is Kool, there is a thread with that combo.
