I'm probably running a stock setup, and I couldn't tell you what it sounds like because it doesn't run. I kinda want Smithy's glasspacks on it as I've heard an early '50s Merc with those on and it sounds good, however I'm not sure what the different length glasspacks do. I want something loud, but not annoying.

I am leaning on taking the glass packs out and running open headers as well. I will have about 5 feet of pipe from the headers to the tips. That might quiet it down a little...right?
    Any thoughts on cutouts?

Brockman MellowTones steel packs on my 53 Merc. Might look at Porter Mufflers for my 31 though.

Tractor supply has a straight thru, maybe steel packed, cheaper than smithys. I will say that after making tubes to replace the iron manifolds the volume went up. Instead of 1 1/2" runners to a collector. I went with a 2" pipe from the center port & blended in, maybe the digger tube add's volume? Manifolds muffle a lot compared to headers IMO.

No Mufflers for the Thunderturd ! ! Speedway "economy" headers only. Very sweet sound and not really loud ! ! !
