The main bearing cap nuts on a Keith Black Hemi are 11/16.......I went out to my garage and double checked just for this thread ;-) Al in TN
Yep, found a six-point 1/2" drive 19/32 Proto socket about 25 years ago, lives in the "oddball schidt" drawer of the rollaway in my clean room- 13/32 bolts w/ 19/32 nutz You could probably find a couple 11/16 nutz on that Canuckistani Meteor, eh?
Hydraulic hose fittings on a regular basis. Also, post #16 is driving my nuts(no pun intended) That is not an 11/16" nut, that is a nut that an 11/16" wrench fits. An 11/16" nut fits onto an 11/16" bolt.
Almost any GM Chevelle, Nova, etc. type front end has 11/16" hardware all over it. Castellated tierod nuts, idler arm nuts, upper control arm nuts, many rear shock mounts too. Every 11/16" socket and end wrench in my box is beat to shit. Bob
I have a couple of 19/32 wrenchs, but in 50 plus years of working on cars I don't recall ever useing them. 11/16 I use quite bit, when I use 3/8 bolts with heavy duty nuts.
No, I simplified the conversation because I ASSumed we could all speak the same language here on the HAMB. Nobody is calling the nut pictured an 11/16" nut. We are calling it a 7/16" nut, which has an 11/16" face-to-face spacing. It was my mistake to simplify it so much as to have confused you.
Its all a conspiracy. These guys are in on it. There really is NO PURPOSE for an 11/16 wrench. Now the truth can be told...
So, you got in an Internet pissing match over something ridiculous with some folks who obviously don't have a lot of wrenching experience, and just HAD to extend it to the HAMB for more pissing- cool And then when someone corrects you, you get "pissy"- perfect
You've got it all figured out.... because the 2 things are completely congruous. One issue is someone claiming something doesn't exist. The other is using "street language" to describe something (like failing to dot an "I," which, for you, changes the entire meaning of a word??).
I have often pondered, well at least occasionally pondered, why the other common fastener sizes, 1/4. 5/16, 3/8. 1/2 all use the same size wrench for nut and bolt (in most circumstances), while 7/16 commonly uses two sizes.
It's been awhile and my memory is kinda fuzzy, but I'm pretty sure I played slide guitar for " The 11/16th's".
starter bolts , some bumper bolts , i seem to allways need an 11/16 for sumthin or other the one socket i have i cant find a use for is a 25/32 ive got two of them what are they for?
