    Change it to a FoMoCo engine......Lenco tranny.....Maybe a FoMoCo SOHC engine....definitely dual quads.....Lumpy/snotty cam..........(get the point??!)

    Who cares if its a "70's" style Hot Rod.......its YOURS.........it AIN'T original....modify it until ya get tired of it and swap it off for sump'in different.

    What about the car's history leads you to wanting to preserve it?

    Over the years there are hot rods that have been improved or taken steps backwards with changes. All of the "built back in the day" have some sort of "history", I guess, but that doesn't make them icons. The history would have to be significant enough that I wouldn't want to make it my own.

    I know what I'd change, and it's all been discussed here.
    The steering mast angle might be 'adjusted', (so a 15" Bell could be comfortably used) but that's likely beyond what @Art has planned. The other things are obvious, (exhaust mainly) but the wide radials on the Vaughn wheels could be more in 'proportion'. They have the look of what's under Camaros.

    Aren't you glad you ask?! Agree with others about ditch that exhaust mess, change the tail lights to 40s Chev, change the tires and the wheels out, louver the hood top and maybe ditch the sides altogether. You could change nothing at all and still have a ride with pride.
