Somewhere in Los Angeles there is a creamy white 57 Ford retractible with canted double Packard taillights, 59 Lincoln front fenders, lots of fish-scale louvers and 54 Chevy grille teeth. It sports an original set of spider caps on chrome reverse wheels and a dash plaque from the first Majestics Car Show in Regina, Saskatchewan 43 years ago. The car is still owned by the son of the guy who built it. For all the good my left nut is, I would gladly give it fopr that car. And I really don't like Fords all that much.
Unfortunately, I can't stay loyal to what I like today and what I may like tomorrow, but for now........this really floats my boat!
1934 Ford Roadster, full fenders. It was the first Hot Rod I ever saw and it was love at first sight. I was maybe 5 years old.
On our favorite auction site to hate, eVILbay, I saw a gorgeous 60 Buick LeSabre 2dr HT, perfect low milage beauty in factory Chalet(Light) Blue. No rust, no dents, no scrapes, perfectly aged paint, perfect chrome. LOTS of deleted stuff, radio delete, clock delete, was even running dog dish hubcaps cuz they deleted the "regular" ones. 364 nailhead with a 3-speed MANUAL trans. All documentation and all that collector stuff came with it. Uh yup.
A local radio host here in Dallas has 2 Batmobiles, 1 Mach 5, The General Lee and he just added the Starsky and Hutch Torino to his stable.
Not very likely the Doane Spencer roadster will ever be available, so this is my second choice. I love this delahaye.
1941 Lincoln Continental Cabrio.--any dark color with a tan top. Close 2nd--1963 Riviera, silver with silver interior.
If I had to pick only one, it would be the '61 Ventura. These are the two cars that I really miss. A lot of that has to do with the period of my life that I owned them, I'm sure, but at my age the Ventura would be the best to row the 4-speed across the country with. Mutt
1930 Packard Boattail Speedster This is just a showing of that even in the midst of the great depression there were still people spending "boat" loads of money on luxury cars. If only.....
I would like to have my first car back again 65 Chevy Impala SS. I would like to upgrade it from the 283 2 speed Powerglide to a 572 crate motor and a 6 speed
In my case a 56 or 57 Vette, tunnel ram'd big block, reverse opening hood scoop.......................Nirvana.............. Al in CT
A Black 1961 Pontiac Catalina sedan with a Super-Duty 421, 4 speed, and 8 lug wheels, and a N.O.S. set of Jardine headers for said Catalina.
I think there are folks here with a lot of love for the old rods. I love 'em, too. But if I was held to just one it would have to be blazingly fast, handle well, be streetable, etc. To wrap all that stuff in one car doesnt spell traditional hot rod. When I come here I do so because it is a part of what I like. This is not my only interest and I think this post shows that holds true for some other members as well. I love fooling with EFI cars and have built a few street rods. But I keep that to myself and come here because it is the best gear head board out there...PERIOD. I follow the relues while I'm so I dont get asked to leave.
Well if everyone only gets one car, mine's a tow truck. Cause the rest of you sorry bitches will be in deep shit It'd have to be an extended cab COE rollback.
Mine would be my 57 Ranchero. I've had a chopped Duece a full custon Merc and everything in between in my time. I wound up with the family heirloom many yrs ago. Granpa bought it in 57. It's been a truck, used for transportation, and Drag raced for many years. Now it's cleaned up to be driven again I've just had for 35 yrs!
either a 38 ford coupe with black tuck and roll or the most beautiful car in the world......1959 cadillac, black on black hard top and 390 with tri power.....no car will ever be as beautiful as one of those.
Ever since I first saw one, I've wanted an Ultima GTR. http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/ Dave http://www.roadsters.com/
