How about a bunch of HAMBers getting together to chop a car? Hard to beat that!

How about when you break down and call on a buddy for help and he comes and helps you out...My NON Hotrod buddies never do that...

I always look forward to the Sat breakfast and sharing some time with fellow Hot Rodders

you can have the coolest car in the world but alone its not the same, the "comradeship" is key!

Got to be that Unknown Feeling of whats going on with the car DURING A LONG DRIVE. The Anxiety of going to sleep and waking up the next day for a road trip. Driving places in a "Creation" that you made happen and Only you know where every Nut And Bolt is.

Gotta Be the build and the drive

These are some pretty good answers, surprised no one has mentioned:

    1. Filling up at the gas station and parking next to a Bentley or lamborghini and having more people look at your car then theirs.
    or
    2. Whoopin' on a civic at a stop light.

For me its the sense of satisfaction/accomplishment that makes all the hard work and money spent worth it.

Its all about the adrenaline for me. Pitching it to full lock then praying for full recovery at about 60....yeah! Screaming exhaust, blurred scenery, white knuckles. Total sensory overload with an out of body calmness!

  13. if it wasnt for the begging , pleading , bleeding , screaming , fighting , banging , and goin broke its the best reason to get out of the house and away from the wife :D

The cars are always the number one reason, the form and function, but the people are what makes it all worth it. Whether it's cruisin with a bunch of buddies or meetin new people at a show or swapmeet, man there's nothing better....I think ultimately the reason we're all so addicted to the HAMB is all the good people we meet here.....Yea, it's the people for me....

    I COULDNT GET BACK TO SLEEP...SO, I MADE WAFFLES...WHOLE WHEAT, W SUGAR FREE SYRUP...YUM!:(

  19. I like the process of designing a ch***is, then building it peice by peice and seeing it come together. I enjoy bringing an old body back from the dead with patch panels and creative metalwork. And I love being able to drive this testament to my building skills to rod runs and having the people go OOOOH---AHHHHH what a beautifull car.

  20. I like building the specialty parts.

The stuff you invent during the build and after it's up and running.

Some to take care of a problem and some just cuz....

Something about remembering the first late night drive, trading p***es back toward town, looking over at a buddy's 37 chev and watching the tri-power linkage flatten, throttle to the floor in the coupe and feeling the surge as we both approached 90 mph, then letting off as he continued on his way to the next town. ;)

    This is good!

    <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/viXe8t7LuNU&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/viXe8t7LuNU&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

But what I really like is being in about the second or third day of a trip with a couple of buddies and having the realization that I built this thing!

Man, there are too many to list, but if I have to put a few in order:

    1. I love the cross-country chingo. You get there, and they say, "You came from where? In what? With who?"

    2. The reason the long trip is so cool, is that I get to see my hot rod pals that I otherwise don't get to hang with much.

    3. Driving an old car gives you a certain swagger that even fighter pilots try to emulate.
