Danny, this will probably sound familiar with you (and others) but it does seem to be common around here.
I've been thinking about selling the Suburban for a while now, just can't bring myself to part with somethinģ that has so much money and effort in it but of the three it holds the least attraction for me, the other thing is people only want to spend ten cents on the dollar anymore for a project regardless of the builders' investment.
I know guys around here will say at my age (71) they are still enthusiastic and active building cars, the fact of it is some health issues have ****ed the energy out of me not to mention the fixed income situation.
It's always been hard for me to pay for things I'm capable of doing, the simple fact is I can no longer do the "heavy lifting" anymore but selling something like my Suburban would definitely fund needed services.
Guess I'll have to make a (late) New Years resolution huh!

Denny, we have talked about it in the past, the suburban would go a long way to get the roadster or the Nova on the road.

Selling or trading the suburban for the work that you can't do anymore, at 71 years old time is shorter than it was 10 years ago, I realize you are deep into all the projects but IMHO you need to decide which car you really want to drive,

Make a New Years resolution ..... " Damn the torpedoes full speed ahead!":)

Hoping to get my 56 back on the road with a fresh 312, a 3 speed transmission, and maybe new interior? I have others that I want on the road too but they are OT.

I hope to finally get the 54 Lincoln race car project finished and on the road in 2026. Almost everything done now, just have some front/rear balancing issues with the front disc brake conversion left to deal with. So chances are really good it will be finished soon. This one has been sitting waiting it's turn in the workshop. Still a ways to go before it can get it's ticket, hopefully this year. Things keep falling off my house or falling off me, so they get priority.

Hope to get the Wagon on the road in 2026. I have an appointment with the Ortho at the end of the month for my shoulder and one with my GP in February about blood issues. Fingers crossed.

And remember Doug that there are friends in the area who can and will help with the things that require 2 or more sets of hands (or backs).

Thanks Danny. You've been a big help along the way and I'm sure I'll be needing answers to more question down the road. Looking forward to seeing Brenda's wagon back to it's former self this year as well.

Thank you for that Greg, means the world to me!
Not to turn this thread into a downer but there doesn't seem to be anyone around anymore to help, young, old, paid or otherwise, no young, strong neighborhood kids to be seen.
I remember being "that guy" when the phone rang, couch or fridge moved, push cars in/out, remove or install engines, bleed brakes, etc.
But, as HRP pointed out, gotta sell something, still need things like ceramic coating on headers and exhaust system, frame, suspension and rearend need painted, fibergl*** work and primer on body, etc had even settled on final color, can't even think about that.
    And that's just my roadster!

Well, I’ve been moved almost three months, and the progress has been too slow for my liking.
My project cars are still in storage back in East TN, with no immediate solution to get them here.

The trailer is full, so I have no means to move any of them.
The shop has to be enlarged to accommodate both the cars plus the stuff on the trailer.
The shop slab won’t begin for yet another couple of weeks after finally getting all the permits and blessings of the local bureaucracies..
An estimated EIGHT weeks before the building construction starts.
So it looks like mid-March or April before anything gets resumed.

So the 32, the 40 coupe and the 41 pickup just sit, and I keep getting older. FUBAB.

My avatar champ car - after about 14 years of building it.
Set up for both vintage racing and street driving, with a transmission, hydraulic brakes, starter motor, electric fuel pump and enough street equipment to be legal.

[QUOTE="Now I must undo half of what I accomplished last year, drain the transmission fluid, remove the transmission, pull the converter, lift the 200 pounds onto my Workmate, unbolt the pump, pry out the old seal, install the new seal, hope I do it right and it doesn't leak when I re-install it and then start it up, adjust the TV cable and take it for a test drive.
    [/QUOTE]
You shouldn't have to unbolt the pump to replace that seal. Just pry out the old seal, clean things up and carefully drive in the new seal. I've done many over the years and that should be all you need to do.

  21. The black Galaxie in my avatar is a long way apart in my shop right now. I've got some work to do on my '50 as well as my other Galaxie but I hope to have that black Galaxie on the road again for a couple of the late season shows around here.

I probably shouldn't share this with you at this point in time, but I do have a 260/4-spd out of a '64 Caliente that was being restored. Owner died, son went with a Windsor/C4, Bruce got the wee 260....It has been completely gone through, ***hole to teakettle, water pump to slip joint..... Includes original shift linkage..... PM me if interested..... Merc 260-T10.jpg

Love that '54 Ranch...... What a great all around cruizer !!!

  26. I hear you regarding priorities. I call it the "Trifecta" year when property and health issues are quiet and you have time and money to devote to the hotrod. Most years it doesn't happen, which is why I've been working on my '29 Model AA since 1974, but never licensed and drivable. If this year sorts out and good health continues at 77, the Trifecta could turn into the "Grand Slam." I made big headway today, preparing to yank the AOD because I was forgetful and lazy during ***embly and didn't replace the fluid pump snout seal. It leaked, so out it will come so I can swap out the bad seal for a new one. Weather was warm today for January and may stay that way for two more days so frantic thrash before winter returns.

THANKS, Galaxie, I'll do it that way. The hard part is getting to the thing, but today was unusually warm for January in western Missouri and I began the tedious process of un****oning everything to remove the transmission. The weather's supposed to stay warm two more days and I just might get enough done this month to move on to other tasks. You may have saved me valuable time.

Well, I made Terry Hamb a happy Hamber when I sold him my Model A, but it left me with the time to do a little m***aging on my new critter, a 1956 Thunderbird. It's not stock, so it leaves me at liberty to make more changes. Subtle, of course. The '56 connie kit had been removed, and a filler plate bent and plated to fill the gap.... Ughhhhh. So I picked up a '55 rear bumper from some wonderful fellows back East, which had been treated to new chrome. Next, the front was sitting a nosebleed height, since the transplant mill is much lighter than the Y-block. So I went with Aerostar coils, minus a little. It has had 14" wheels forever, and I kinda like the look. It had a 302/SROD transplant done many years ago, and for now, that will stay put. Purists will hate me, but who gives a ****..... This critter is one of 3 known to exist out of 91 '56 Birds sold new in Mexico. They were shipped down to Mexico City in boxes, like the WWII jeeps after the war. The VIN lost the engine letter, and gained an "MEX", to identify them as being sold new in Mexico. The original owner went on to become the President back in the 70's. I bought the Bird from his Granddaughter..... Now, that's on the Mother's side.... On her father's side, her Great Great Grandfather was also President of Mexico, back in the vary late 20's, during the depression.....

I'm never going to build it=To old now,an no time anyway.
Great buy for anyone, who needs parts pile that canbe a little outside box cool hot rod.
Any near fair offer***I'll take, pick up in Miami Fl.
