What rear ends are these, and what would you say is a fair price for them both? They both turn, and one is complete.
Yellow one... 40s ford chopped down Juices brakes also..... black one 37-8 ford banjo, mechanical brakes
The black one is 36 because it has 35/36 trailing arms, but has wide five drums that came out in 36. The arms look real nice. 150 up per pair. The inner driveshaft will be tapered on both ends, to cut in half for real lakes headers. 100 The other pieces?
The flipped axle looks like 41-48 Ford/Merc passenger car. The short yellow one (kool lookin) has to be either a farm implement or maybe industrial sumthin. Never seen one that short but it coulda been in a warehouse or factory "tug" tractor of some kind. I don't think the pro-street thing was happening back then but hey, who knows? I missed the wide 5 drums. Oops. We got a 46 Merc and a 41 Lincoln axle in the yard and it looks really similar at the bones, the Lincoln being a different center. My bad...
The older guy that has them, sid he got the narowed one in a pile of stuff, was told it was a narrowed one.
F&J is correct on all counts. That yellow one is a '40-'48 type, is indeed narrowed, probably for a farm implement or 'doodle bug'.
The narrowed one IS a 42-48 because the perches have the Panhard bar hole in them. 37" is narrow, either a tug or some midget or other farmboy racecar at one time. The black is 36, has the desireable wishbone/perch combo bolt on radius rods and likely a hollow driveshaft inside the torque tube to make a pair of headers OR and up and back exhaust pipe for the banger racecar you'll build from the narrowed rear.
The yellow rear is a '41-'48 For rear. It's hard to say whether it's a 1941, or a '42-'48 rear since it's been narrowed. The other one looks like a 1935-'36.
As said before the black one on top is a 36 and is where your money is at....I assume the parts are in TX...That normally means clean rust free stuff.....judging from the pics it looks pretty good. If you can pick them up cheap get them both...the narrow one has juice brakes, tube shock mounts and most likely a good set of gears....the 36 has the sought after bones and axle bells. When I have good ones in stock I get $250-300.00 for 36 bones and $200.00 for the axle tubes....Not to mention the 36 driveshaft will make lake headers....If I were looking at them to buy, I would pay as much $400.00 for the pair. hopes this gives you an idea of what they are worth.
