What rear is it?

I recently bought an old school 32 Ford pickup. The lug nut pattern is 5 on 5. The left rear studs are marked with an "L" on each surface and, of course, are left hand threads. The right rear lug nuts are right hand threads. I have been told by an old garage owner that only Chrysler did this. I have also been told that some mid 50's to early 60's GM rears were like this. Is there any other identification marks, symbols, etc. that will tell me before opening the rear?

    Thanks much

    Sounds like maybe a '57ish Olds/Pontiac rear.

I just replaced the studs in my '59 Pontiac rear and its 5on5 with left hand threads.

post up a pic of the center section and axle ends with the width from flang to flange

    Most lily Olds/Pontiac.

    Chrysler's had a 4.5X5 like Ford.

I think Dodge trucks were 5x5 though, but not sure.

5 on 5 sounds like non-chevy GM, you'll find left hand threads on Olds from the 50s.

Imperials had 5.5" bolt pattern back in the old days. no 5" though that I know of.

50's pontiac had 5 on 5" bolt pattern and left and right hand wheel studs. old mopar and even nash had left and right hand wheel studs but different bolt pattern for the wheels. post some pictures!
