Planning to put a 302 and c4 in my 59 F100 panel in the spring and wondered who has done this swap and which style motor mounts you used. I see the type that bolt to the frame rails and the tubular type that are weld in. Any advantage in one over the other, except not having to do the measuring and welding? Do the bolt in ones give good structural support? Does the tubular one cause clearance problems for the oil pan? Just looking for opinions from those experienced with this. Open to ideas on how you may have built your own mounts as well!
I used a tubular mount out of a 67 Econoline that had a 240 engine to put a 289 in my 56 f100 all I had to do to make it fit was cut the tube off just outside the inboard flanges it fit in the frame perfect it bolted to the top of the rail with 2 bolts on either side .and used stock ford mounts to engine .and it was curved so any oil pan would fit.of course this was back in 73 so may be hard to find now Sent from my SM-G965U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I put a 289 in a ‘56 F100 years ago using one of those tubular mounts. I can’t remember who made it, but they don’t interfere with the pan. They are made to swap that engine in. If I remember right, it was all bolt in, no weld. Pat
