Does anyone know if a stock Model A seat will fit in a channeled roadster? I have a '29 roadster that is channeled the frame (4") and hoping I can use a stock Roadster seat, just without the seat back riser. So the seat back would really be sitting on the floor instead of it's riser. Or are the seat bottoms even too high for a channeled car? Thanks.
I'm using a built up seat cushion with 4" of foam that sits directly on the floor in my channeled '31 and the top bar of the windshield frame is right in my line of sight. At 6 ft., I'm a little too tall for this setup, but a buddy that's about 5'8" doesn't even notice the top of the frame. So it kind of depends upon how tall you are. Just something to think about.
I was working in a boat chandlers shop last summer fixing the refrigerator and while I was hanging around I browsed around the shop. There were loads of stainless stuff, like wiper motors and fixings and stuff but what caught my eye was the little low back seats that they put in speedboats and cruisers. There were tuck`n rolled and metalflake vinyl finishes and just plain .The cushions(squabs)were real low and depending on what you want they are worth a look at your local boat outfitters.
I've found that school bus seats are about the right size for '20's and early '30's roadsters...cool green and ivory upholstery on mine...and they are cheap...I bought several for $5 bucks each.
