What's wrong with "FlynBrian"? Cars don't have to be female you know.

Has this thing been shortened? Sectioned any? I really like this and there is a rusted out '37 Chevy 2 door sedan about an hour from here that is starting to look pretty inviting after looking at your creation.

I'm not trying to rub anyone the wrong way, but personally, I'm kinda tired of the military themed hot rods. The theme should be "hot rod". As cool as that thing is, if it were my car, I'd go all out on it. I've changed my mind about the direction I want to go with my own truck several times, and my truck is just a truck. You've got an incredible canvas there to make a work of art, so why not stand out, shiny paint, some flake if you want, lots of chrome, maybe some striping here and there. I know, it sounds like what other people are doing with their cars, but your car is really cool. Make it something that will draw a crowd. Just my opinion. I wish I was to the point of painting my vehicle. Have fun with it man, it's a beauty.

Yes, shortened 16" behind the doors, wedge sectioned, about 5 at the cowl, 3 at the door posts, and almost a foot off the tail. I just cut until I was into good sheet metal...:p It's channeled roughly 5". I say roughly 'cause I just dropped the body down over the frame unitil it looked "right", and started building the floor at that point.

I kinda like the "PT 472" thing now that I think about it. It does bear more than a p***ing resemblance to our PT Cruiser, although that was the LAST thing on my mind! What it really looks like, I think, is what a Prowler could have (should have?) looked like. I'd like to incorperate the Caddy 472 into the moniker, so that, combined with a pinup gal in a sailor suit, maybe in a "salute" pose, would be ideal. I'll stay with the idea of that being very small, down on the cowl between hood handle and bottom door hinge, like the "Sack Time" rendering done here. Subtle, not over the top.

It is, and always was planned to be, finished in shiney paint, BC/CC Olive green, 'cause I can do it. The idea wasn't military theme initially, but I always pictured the car in a dark organic color, something appropriate for the time, that would have been done by the owner/builder as best he could. I also happen to like Martini's, and like Olives, and so there ya go...The interior is sort of mustard color on the seat cushions and brushed aluminum panels, the top is Haartz black canvas.

Thanks for all the GREAT replies, and for not flaming me!:p

I also kinda dig the name "Miss Stress" !! That's a close second!:D

  20. My uncle in WWII has an engineer on a B-24. It was called "SNAFU" with a pregnent woman on the side of the ****pit. With the big engine up front and looking like a tub in the rear, maybe a good name.

IMO artsy fartsy paint jobs and art work look great but only for a little while than it weighs on you. Your car needs nothing to make it stand out, as far as graphics/names/nose art, it stands out on it's own. I would pick a '40z paint scheme of some type, if you have to have a name or artwork put it on the dash. JMO

  24. PT? After all that time and effort building something unique, it would be ironic to name it after something ubiquitous.

PT boats kicked *** and took names. They traveled alone at times and took on ships with far heavier artillery. Some good men came off those boats, and some good men never left them:(. The name doesn't have squat to do with Chryslers design.

...we forget what those boys did and how they did it, there was no effective radar on these little tubs, no explosive armor, no fire support but for what was in your hands. Sometimes "doing" meant dying, yet they still went and they still did.

You wanna know what I think bad *** looks like?...

I totally agree...this car is so radical and looks so good....just a nice paintjob and interior would be awesome....it's already got the look of a well built radical custom from the 50's maybe....so why do the theme car trip?
