I would look it over good before you decide. I havn't personally seen to many restorations I was impressed with. Pull some interior and look at the inside of the doors and the quarters and see if it's been patched. If so is it to your standards. the fenders you can sell, but not if they have crappy repairs done.

I would rather start with a shell. You can get a better idea of the condition without all the new paint and bodywork.

What I'm saying make sure you are'nt opening a big can of worms.

dont change that one too much, maybe a flatty, some juice brakes, and 40 ford steelies. leave the fenders.

have fun with it as a banger, gather all parts needed for build, a wheelbarrow full of dead presidents before you down it. Mine began life as yours is now. too clean to cut up

Don't touch it. If you can afford it, leave that one original, buy another one to hotrod. Paint the hotrod matching colors so when they're parked together it'll look like a before and after shot.

If you don't have the dough... sell it and start with another one. I know it sounds retarded... but you just don't see 'em like that anymore. It would be a shame to screw with that one... no matter how nice the hotrod turned out to be.

hard to say since the two pics you gave us are so different, but it appears you like fenderless cars....one is on a 32 frame that appear to be z'd to get it low the other sits on an earlier frame and hi-boy...so before you do anything make sure of what you want and like and then make it your coupe...thats the only way YOU will be happy and thats what counts... if not send it my way Hehehehhee

my bad, I think its cool like it is but a dropped axle, juice brakes and some hop up parts on the banger would be cool.

I would say that it is your call.

Me personally, I would keep it for a while and just drive it (untouched). Then I would post it up for sale, then take the cash and build yourself a hot rod from scratch. No excuses. That way you have what you really want.

Or....I would take and lower the car, hop up the 4 banger, and put some chrome reverse steelies on it. That would be all for me at least.

    Hope this helps!

  18. i would love to find someones "parade car" and do like chris did or maybe even chop it a bit not a lot and defiantly not a hack job and then take it back to the parade

Id advise you to keep it as is or get rid of it to someone who wants a stock car. There are more that enought bodies out there that you can hot rod. Leave the stockers to people that like em that way. Every one of these that we pull apart will never be replaced. Seems a shame to do that when theres so many parts out there for us to start with instead of pulling apart a complete car.

Good advise Joe. You actually can have a lot of fun with a stock Model A if you can connect up with a local Model A club. They go on lots of drives/tours/reliability runs. The driving is the fun part, and connecting up with people that have the same kind of car is fun too.

If you hot rod, you kind of go out into Lone Wolf territory. You start putting your own taste into the car, which starts turning different people off to your car.

I own both stock and hotrod. I notice that EVERYONE loves seeing the stock car. Kids, Old people, hot rodders, EVERYONE. Not everyone likes seeing my hotrod.
"Why didn't you put a SBC in it?" "When are you going to paint it?" "Why didn't you chop it more?" "What's up with the wheels?"

But the car will let you know what to do with it. It's a nice car! Hop it up a little bit like Chris did and then it's not offensive to either the restorers or the hot rod guys. Best of both worlds!

Wow, that's almost identical to my dad's first Model A he bought in '64. He sold it a few months laterbecause it wasn't "stock enough".
    great car!

Leave it alone, there are incomplete cars out there you can cut up.
