Within the next week I am going to be buying a crate 351w. I have no Idea what fuel pump I should get for it. It will be pushing 440hp. I just get confused on what gph I need. Its never gonna be down the strip. Just on the street for fun. I would like to stay mechanical just because of price but I also want it to work without issues. Thanks for any help. Aaron
Why not use a stock mech. pump? Ford engineered the pump to operate with that engine plus you can buy a replacement anywhere.
His 351 may not have a provision for a mechanical pump, I have a 351 roller motor that doesn't. Either the Holley "red" pump or a Carter "Street" or "Street/Strip" pump would be more than suffiecient. I am running a Carter "Street" version on my 331 Stroker/ 424 hp with two fours and it has never had a problem with lack of fuel. I was a Holley guy all my life but have switched to the Carters as they are a lot quieter and seem a little more bulletproof. What ever you do, put a good filter before the pump, one that is designed for electric pump use. Don
I was hoping for the mechanical just for price and not having to worry bout wiring and mounting not saying thats alot to do. Right now advance auto has a special on a holley blue and a regulator. Im sure thats to much but then the regulator would take it down. I just dont want to buy something and then it be wrong and then have to go fork out more money to get it right. I like the holley mechanical 80 gph or they even have the 110 gph but I have no idea if that would be enough or not.
