Customs what size rims?

    i have a 72 front clip on a 62 s10 ch***ie. The body is the original 50 gmc cab and fenders. I have air ride on the truck but cant drop it all the way because the fenders runs into the tire by about 3/4 of an inch. they are some stock steelys of a 70s truck I believe. 15 inch rims. I want to go the same size but what kind of backspacing? I don't know a whole lot and I'm stuck. any help?

    so, did you buy this mismatched, mis-identified project or did you build it? did anyone measure anything before starting on this? post some pics

    Yup. Need some pics. There are a ton of variables in that stuff.

    Only because it's a 50 GMC.

    Put the truck on a ramp, or good sturdy blocks under the tires. Crawl under and measure.

    Jack truck up and remove the wheel. Measure.

    Go to the local junkyard, with the measuring tape and a straight edge. Measure.

    When you're done, you'll know a whole lot more. That's how we did it before the Internet gave instant answers.

    I didn't know they made an S10 in 62.
    Your issue is the 72 front clip with the 50 GMC sheet metal. The 72 clip is too wide. You may not be able to get wheels with enough negative offset to clear the fenders when the bags are aired out. The wheels are going to have to set in a lot, (think front wheel drive wheels) and you may not be able to get them in the lug bolt pattern you will need.

    Remove your front wheels, set a straight edge across the back side of the wheel (has to sit on the wheel) and measure the distance between the bottom of the straight edge and the back side of the wheel where it bolts to your rotor. You need a wheel with at least 3/4" more distance to where the wheel bolts to your rotor, but a inch more would be better, if such a thing exists.

    Worst case is, the truck won't be able to lay on the ground. Gene

    Wheels will not fix this.
